Ulog: Curation and a cost of a vote

The system you seek is the sistem next to you

After missing most of the show last week because of the outreach program with @giftinkindph I wanted to be sure to attend the show.

It is my way of reconnecting with Steemians, a way to hear Terry's voice as he talks about his dreams, his vision, and plans. Most of all it was a way for me to get some healing and motivational energy.

I was feeling low and a bit depressed. Okay, a whole lotta depressed and I had trouble in finding my way back. Commenting was almost zero and I was not spending any time connecting in Discord. I mostly slept. It may be because it rained the whole week and so my energy was so low.

So here I was waiting for the show to start and I talked to some of the people and there were some who were joining for the first time.

Then Terry arrived and talked about Curation.

Is a vote free? Answer: Generally, we can't say a vote is free. There's actually a cost here

When we came to this platform Steemit Inc. gave us a 15 SP delegation to start out. After awhile it would be removed because at a certain point we must have built up our Steem Power.

We also have Bandwidth and Voting weight to consider and most of all time. It not merely the time when you upvote but the time that you spend in this platform. Are you doing everything that you can to be successful here?

Curation comes with a gift. 25% of the rewards is for curators. It is shared amongst the voters

As the author you get 75% of the earnings of a post. The remaining 25% is given to the curators/upvoters as thanks for upvoting you. There have been requests to have it 50%/50% but I believe that the lion share should be given to the author first and 1/4 to be shared to all the voters.

This creates a relationship between you and the alien host.

There's community involved in Curation

Of course, there is a community. As much as one person is able to not sleep nor rest he/she cannot possibly cover all. This is where we come in.

We cannot simply leave all the curation to Terry. We need to be out there and supporting people and seeing them as true celebrities and we their true fans.

We have to do our part of motivating, correcting and guiding people especially the new ones.

There are bigger things involved in Curation Example: Some people are Vegetarians and may not vote on a post talking about Balots.

This was a great point and not because a balut is involved here. It is because Terry talks into detail how a whale would curate because each vote they give have a meaning. That if they vote on something that runs contrary to their beliefs then they are not being true to themselves.

Every curator has their style and considers content as priceless.

We know that each person has certain niches and topics they resonate with. So find people that resonate with you and it will be easier to build relationships and connections.

Terry's curation has a timeless value

Ulogs is a means for us to create freshness and as more and more people use ulogs.org and the ulog tag then it goes beyond the present but is the first step to the future.

Curation also involves commenting. Some people look for consistency

We would like to see engagement in your post. To have a good number of quality comments then we know that your work was curated by others. So engage with the commenters on your post and make them feel important.

Curation doesn't necessarily mean an Upvote, a resteem could go a long way too

A lot of people are expecting big upvotes each time. Some are really good and get consistent curie rewards.

They have grown accustomed to receiving the upvotes and so when it is removed they complained that life was unfair.

When it is given so someone new, they complain. Yet not all curations means you need to have the big vote. A resteem, a comment can be considered as one.

I love this because this says that we should care about the people around us and that we cannot judge harshly someone else.

We do not know their trials and challenges. We do not know what they are going through and so in these situations, the proper thing to do is to be kind and #beliketerry.
