Turning egg cartons into a beautiful vase [ENG-ESP].

Today I bring you the elaboration of a vase, made from egg cartons, it is a long process, but easy and economical to do, we will convert recyclable materials into a nice vase, the result is amazing, what can be achieved with cardboard, white glue and a little creativity. Also known as fake clay is and with them we can make many crafts, without further ado join me with the step by step.

Hoy les traigo la elaboración de un florero, hecho de cartones de huevo, es un proceso largo, pero fácil y económico de hacer, convertiremos materiales reciclables en un lindo jarrón, el resultado es increíble, lo que se puede lograr con cartón, pega blanca y un poco de creatividad. También conocida como arcilla falsa es y con ellas podemos realizar muchas artesanías, sin más preámbulos acompáñame con el paso a paso.

Before we start making our project, here are some tips to make our craft look good without any mishap.

✔️If you want the dough to be more compact, in my case I did it with my hands because I wanted to give a rustic touch to the vase, you can put it in the blender and follow the same procedure as step 1.

✔️The drying time is very important, this will determine how good the vase looks.

✔️Before placing the dough in the container it should be well dry and have plenty of stickiness.

Antes de comenzar hacer nuestro proyecto, dejo algunos tips para que nuestra artesanía quede bien sin contratiempo.

✔️Si quieres que la masa quede más compacta, en mi caso lo hice con las manos porque quería darle un toque rústico a jarrón, la puedes poner en la licuadora y seguir el mismo procedimiento que el paso 1.

✔️El tiempo de secado es muy importante, este determinará que tan bien quede el jarrón.

✔️Antes de colocar la masa en el envase debe estar bien seco y tener abundante pega.

With your hands cut the egg carton into small pieces, add water and let it soak for two hours, the longer the better, as I mentioned before, it is quite easy to do, but the process is long.

After the two hours the consistency of the cardboard changes, it is more manageable, we squeeze it until it takes a soft and malleable consistency, with a strainer we strain to remove excess water, in this case I used a sock, it makes the work much easier.

Once the cardboard is strained we proceed to add plenty of glue, until a dough is formed, and we have our fake clay ready.

Con las manos cortamos el cartón de huevo en trozos pequeños, agregamos agua y dejamos remojar por dos horas, mientras más tiempo mejor, como mencione antes, es bastante fácil de hacer, pero el proceso es largo.

Después de las dos horas la consistencia del cartón cambia, es más manejable, vamos estrujando hasta que se tome una consistencia suave y maleable, con una tele colamos para eliminar el exceso de agua, en este caso yo use una media facilita bastante el trabajo.

Ya con el cartón colado procedemos agregar abundante pega, hasta formar una masa, y ya tenemos lista nuestra arcilla falsa.

We cut the tip of the plastic container, then add plenty of glue throughout the container, and we glue the cardboard mass to the whole jar, after having the jar completely lined with cardboard, we varnish it with glue and let it dry in the sun for 6 hours depending on the weather if the sun is strong it will dry pretty fast, but if there is no sun it can take up to two days.

Cortamos la punta del envase plástico, luego agregamos abundante pega en todo el envase, y vamos pegando la masa de cartón a toda la jarra, después de tener la jarra completamente forrada con el cartón, la barnizamos con pega y dejamos secar en el sol por 6 horas dependiendo del clima si el sol esta fuerte se secara bastante rápido, pero si no hay sol puede tardar hasta dos días.

With our vase already dry we proceed to paint with white cold paint, which will be our background to continue painting, for this vase vase I only used three colors, white, blue and black, but with the blue and white I made several shades of blue that I was blurring.

Con nuestro jarrón ya seco procedemos a pintar con pintura al frio blanca, que será nuestro fondo para seguir pintando, para este jarrón jarrón solo utilice tres colores, blanco, azul y negro, pero con el azul y el blanco hice varias tonalidades de azul que fui difuminando.

After the white background, I paint with blue, I mix it with the white paint to go down tones and it looks blurred, I repeat the same procedure to go down from dark blue to the lightest, let dry and finally varnish with glue and water, and we have our vase ready.

Después del fondo blanco, voy pintando con azul, lo mezclo con la pintura blanca para ir bajando tonalidades y que se vea difuminado, repito el mismo procedimiento hasta ir bajando del azul oscuro hasta el mas claro, dejo secar y para finalizar barnizamos con pega y agua, ya tenemos listo nuestro jarrón.
