This week’s battle challenge focuses on the Pelacor Arbalest.

The dual-wielding range character is my favorite character archetype to play in any RPG. Firstly, it looks damn cool seeing the character dual-wielding weapons, be it crossbows, guns, or bows. Secondly, it looks menacing to unsuspecting opponents. And finally, the damage is godly due to doing damage twice, which, paired with some agility, makes this an ever-popular character archetype in RPGs. The Pelacor Arbalest ticks many facets for this archetype apart from high speed. Nonetheless, you will see how you can use the low speed to your advantage in the Reverse Speed ruleset battle below.

Lineup Details
- General Sloan (Summoner): +1 range damage to all friendly monsters.
- Blinding Reflector: low-cost primary tank with lots of armor to survive the initial onslaught.
- Chaos Agent + Gargoya Scrapper: low-cost meat shields to shield the backline.
- Truthspeaker: passive buff to provide additional armor to aid survivability to the team.
- Pelacor Arbalest + Prismologist: primary DPS damage + Double Strike and Blast abilities to inflict more damage.

As I mentioned above, the slow speed of Pelacor Arbalest can be used to your advantage in the Reverse Speed ruleset. This battle showcased how powerful it was in combination with General Sloan and Prismologist. The strategy was simple - front load the battle with a high armor tank and a couple of meat shields and employ a monster that can proc Protect ability. This foundation would then allow the Pelacor Arbalest and Prismologist to inflict severe damage, and I wasn't kidding; they inflicted severe pain on the opposition. Each round, they were doing ten range damage, six of which Pelacor Arbalest was responsible for thanks to Double Strike ability. I couldn't have improved this battle; the strategy was simple yet devastating.

There are two downsides to Pelacor Arbalest; it has low health, making it squishy, and it’s slow. However, when the Double Strike procs, it can inflict serious damage in battles and rulesets. One of my favorite Double Strike cards is the Silvershield Assassin which was given free as part of the daily and seasonal chest rewards when the Untamed edition packs were in print. Nowadays, it will cost you $2+ for a level one card. Therefore, paying $3 get a level three Pelacor Arbalest is an absolute no-brainer for me.
