I had the chance to download a long list of Korean series so I've been busy watching them one after the other and as slowly as possible for the ones I find more interesting. I'm yet to delete a few of them even after seeing them and this series I'm about to share review is one of them.
I hope I'm not the only one who thinks a bit hard on what to see next when the last watch was too good, I had that situation when I decided to see this series so you could say I expected so much more from it considering my experience seeing the old series "Dream High" before watching it.
"Tempted" also known as "The Great Seducer" had nothing in common with my last watch but it definitely hit the spot for me right from the first episode. It's a series that reveals a interesting side of "Chaebol heirs" I never thought I needed to see and it was well played by the characters.
The storyline goes like... Three friends from college who are children to Chaebol families, thinks they could have everything they wanted to go as planned and win as always. In an attempt to revenge on a guy who broke her heart, Choi Soo-Ji, the female among them introduced a bet.
Kwon Si-hyeon is an expert for making girls fall for him (a great seducer) he is bent on winning the bet to win over the heart of a lady they thought was the first love of the guy who broke Soo-Jo's heart. In return, he gets to marry Soo-Ji and stop his father from remarrying her mother.
A lot of secrets untold, the three friends kept up with their bet to see how the great seducer wins again. Every Kwon Si-hyeon's encounters with their target (Eun Tae-hee) began to prove abortive until he started going after her for real without realizing it and then he falls completely.
Even though the part of the great seducer falling in love was quite predictable, what was unpredictable and made it interesting to see was that, the female lead, their target fell even before he fell for real. When we thought she'd play hard to get for a long time, she didn't but it was cute.
The storyline seem like the ordinary but the twisted fates, incomplete throwback stories and friendship fights in between made it unique in many ways. At a point, anyone watching would feel so bad for Soo-Ji who could have just agreed to marry Kwon Si-hyeon when he offered, not bet.
It's funny how the bet story lasted through out the whole story, but it didn't turn out the way every viewer would have expected it to (a break up). They did break up for different reasons entirely, which you'll find out when you see the series. The bet still remains the highlight of the story though.
"Tempted" is a 16 episode series, good for recommendation to any who'd love a seductive but cute love story. The characters are well played with special mention of Choi Soo-Ji and Kwon Si-hyeon for the roles they played in. If I'm to be honest, the two females could have been switched for their roles, could have been perfect.
I won't fail to mention the side love story between the other friend among the trio and Soo-Ji that we thought would not end well but it did. It's my first time seeing the female lead but I'm familiar with the others and for that, I enjoyed my time on it. It's a story you want to know about and I'll give it a rating of 8/10 for the unexpected storyline.
