Content creation/creator
When ideas consolidate and manifest in a peice of writing, it is called as content creation. However content creation should not be judged on the basis of its tangible aspects. It has a contemplative side as well.
On the active side, it encompasses grammar, creativity, vocabulary, sentence structure, etc. And all that culminates into a piece of writing digitally or on a piece of paper.
On the contemplative side, it is much deeper, even though intangible......it is the invisible guiding force of content creation and regulates the following dimensions of content creation:-
- Coherent ideas
- Whether it is being able to affect a reader or not
- How it is being expressed
One is content creation and second is the after effect of content creation.
The after effect of content creation is even more interesting-- How does it influence readers, How does it attract readers, How does it persuade readers into something. That brings us to the question of "Determinants of influence/engagement".
Determinants of influence/engagement
(1) Celebrity-hood of a creator
(2) Contextualization- Time, space, events
(3) Arousal potency of the content(positive/negative)
(1) Celebrity-hood of a creator
In general, celebrityhood of a creator is governed by nos of followers, expereince/age, and gender.
If we talk about the mainstream web 2.0 social space, then celebrityhood of the creator dominates the space. So the engagement is determined by the number of followers a creator has.
If you have millions of followers then the dissemination of information or any piece of content including the funny ones spreads like fire, to every nook and corner of the society.
Second, experience matters. It is very natural in digital space that an experienced guy, say, for example in Hive says something we have natural propensity to get interested into the content produced by it. This may not happen for a fresh and newly joined Hiver.
Third, and the most important factor is the gender. You belive it or not, gender of creator does matter a lot, especially in Instagram. Females have natural feminine attractiveness that drives engagement in the mainstream social media. That could be partly true in Hive Blockchain as well.
(2) Contextualization- Time, space, events
What are the contemporary events happening around us. We are reading newspaper, watching TV, etc definitely to get ourselves acquainted with the day to day events. That equally applies for online communities. They also seek to find context of the content.
However, it must also be noted that, the likeliness of engagement/interaction is also subject to creation of content on a particular time of the day.
(3) Arousal potency of the content(positive/negative)
Arousal potency of the content is the predominant aspect of engagement/interaction/influence. It could be positive or negative.
One is the structural part of the content- i.e. how do you present it and make it easy for the readers so that one could find it easy to engage in.
The other is arousal potency of the content. When you say such and such content has gone viral with millions of views, etc etc, then you are essentially talking about the arousal potency of the content.
It can be done by evoking emotions, by producing informative content, or by targeting teenagers through adult content, or by philanthropic acts.
It is also pertinent to note that in online communities, short text draws more attention, that is the reason why microblogging is gaining traction.
My stand on content creation
Now coming to content creation/creator in Hive. We all know that Hive as a social media is quite different from web 2.0, even though essence remains the same, it seeks to transform the ownership of content and seek to decentralize the space through technology and strong communities.
I joined in 2018. Since then it has been an on/off journey for me in Hive, because of want of time in Academia. That said, I have always remained active on Hive as and when I get time to do so. And by saying so I do not mean to say that as if I am doing a favour, no it's not like that, in fact, Hive is a new found opporunity for me to make it more meaningful and explore my own life in a productive way.
Since 2018, I have come across many types of personalities-- ranging from philanthropist, to high end techie, to informative content creator to philosophical contenet creator.
Best content creator in Hive- according to me
I personally have a strong affinity with the romance of the content. What we read must have an impact and effect on our inner conscience. It must have an arousal effect. It must permeate our mind, our thought process to expand the horizon of our thinking ability and enrich the faculty of reasoning.
That is the reason why I find closer to people who are more philosophical, yet more contemporary, more practical, and relatable in the day to day living and lifestyles. Whose thought process and writing completely harmonizes and compliment each other. Where the personality and writing is in exact proportions to one another.
I have found a few people of that kind of writing here in hive, but today I will pick @ericvancewalton as best content creator for me. I always find the strands of innocence, honesty, etc in his writing, where the personality truly harmonizes the words he produces.
In my Ethics class, I was made to read about Immanuel Kant where he says- it is the sense of duty which has moral worth not the outcome of duty. The same thing goes for content creation also. It is the romance of content creation that matters not the earning and upvotes. That said, I am not denying the semblance of content cretion and earning vetted through decentralized community voting.
Conclusion
We all say that reading habit is a good habit because that develops personality, expands the horizon of thinking, gives exposure to different perspectives, etc. The same thing is applicable for online content creation also. Our tatses and interest areas could vary, but there has to be value addition in some form or the other, at the end of the day.
Romance of the content can not be divorced from the creator and readers even from the stand point of commercialization/tokenization.
