BOT MUST DIE
Hi guys, AI wars or should I say, War on AI has been super interesting to watch in the past couple of days. I’m seeing this from an entirely different light and it’s the most fun one I can assure you. Let’s dive in.
To be honest, the People who are against the use of AI in creating content on Hive have valid reasons. But have you seen AI generated art? So, for me, I’ve been exploring midjourneyAI application for a while now, I tried Dalle 2 but I used up my free credits as I was astonishing myself with images I was generating.
So in the hunt for alternatives, I found MidjourneyAI, and I was skeptical about using it because you had to sign up with your discord account and I’ve heard plenty uncool stuff about discord and hacks and so, the skeptic in me came out in my defence, but as you’d guess, it didn’t work out for too long, I took a leap of faith and dove into it.
It turned out that Midjourney was far better than I’d anticipated, the images it generated were beyond astonishing, I was swarmed with questions, like, how? like, do I actually own these images and stuff? Like, am I actually drawing stuff with words now?
DISTURBIA
Thing is AI generates ART by learning from the data that is fed into it, so the more it generates, the more it’s able to iterate on that data and generate more and iterate further on the new sets of data and goes on and on. Jeez we are barely scratching the surface of all of the possibilities and it is already so scary.
So you think there’s been drama on Hive about the use of AI? Lol, you should be in some NFT communities. See, ART is something I appreciate and even more, the artists, for the skill and work they put in their craft. But, AI has made it that anyone can generate ART with a mix of prompts.
Truth is there’s also some level of mastery that has to go into actually birthing a concept with the mix of the right prompts, and applications with correctly programmed API will not generate identical images, so it has led to people storming NFT markets with Ai generated art.
Guns don’t kill people
So you can imagine. There are people saying the AI generated art should be frowned at, some are saying it’s cool, Hence the community wars. And trust, it’s brutal.
My post is not to say whether or not to use AI. In my honest opinion, AI is not the problem. Naa. People are, you see, guns don’t kill people, people kill people! Those who think they can take advantage of others by using AI are the problem. And if you think the next thing on your life’s mission is to be detecting AI generated stuff, oh dear, I wish you all the best.
What happened to manually curating posts you genuinely like? Everyone? If we can shift more attention from the content to the creator, from who is creating before what’s being created, then maybe the need to use AI to generate content for the purpose of farming rewards will dwindle because in web 3, reputation is everything. And this is not to say that content doesn’t matter.
I’m not sure this post was to end here. But I’ll drop it here for now.
Thanks for reading.
