I am sure that most of us have heard the song "Earth by Lil Dicky" it is a desperate call for everyone to lookout for the earth because we are in it together, everyone, from the artist, to farmers, industrial workers and everyone.
It is a good thing that our mother earth has been included in the prompt today to serve as a reminder to everyone about the importance of the study of ecology and conservation of the earth. I wouldn't have known about such a special day of April 22 which celebrate the "Earth" day. Visible evidences of the disaster caused by climate change due to human activities has made this drive an emergency in order to try to save the earth.
Many thanks to science and scientific research that is constantly showing the adverse effects of human activities on the balance of nature. Global warming, climate change, and the adverse effects of mining, deforestation, and industrialization can be seen and experienced by all. Recently, we have experienced harsh weather conditions, drought in some places, and fire outbreaks from extreme heat and temperature. How about the lower temperatures that cause the flu and other illnesses? It is audible to the deaf and viable to the blind that the earth is in grave danger, and it's time to make a move to set things right.
The conservation of natural resources is an important aspect of the Earth's sustainability. In order for man and nature to live in perfect balance, We have to protect and preserve the nature that provides for our needs. Natural resources like water, forests, minerals, etc. A shift in the balance of any can cause a disaster on the earth. I am quite sure that we have seen a shift in the rising sea level and flooding in various countries as a result of an imbalance in the sea as the earth has been warned up.
If we are ever going to live in harmony and balance with nature and enjoy the earth we are living on now, some drastic measures have to be taken to reduce the human factors that have caused most of the changes in nature.
Advocacy for environmental protection: we all, at various levels, become advocates to teach others about the changes in our earth and what is causing the natural disasters we are praying against. The older women in the market may not understand this, but in the simplest of ways, they can all be taught to sew this visible effect. The younger generation can learn too, since the world for tomorrow belongs to the children who are born today.
Agriculture activities: Adopting safer methods of cultivating the land to grow our food can go a long way toward saving the earth. The use of inorganic chemicals is preached against daily, as it is dangerous to the soil and water life. Some measures can be put in place to reduce the excessive use of chemicals on our farms.
- Animals and Wild Life Conservation: Excessive hunting of wildlife and fishing can be drastically reduced to save nature.
- Forestry is at the at the top of the list of activities that can be done to replenish the earth. Over time, we have burned down the trees for numerous functions, and we know the importance of keeping our forests and wildlife.
Proper waste disposal and excessive industrial activities that pollute the atmosphere are topics that can be constantly looked into.
It is a common sight to see heavy refuse and an improper waste disposal system. Individuals litter the environment without a second thought about its consequences. Now that the natural disasters are evident, I hope that we all can look into our lifestyles and do away with the activities that hurt the balance of nature and our precious earth.
It is a good thing to see that even at the governmental level in my state, some measures are being taken by both the government and the citizens looking into the stringent matters mentioned above. We have a monthly day of sanitation where everyone is mandated to stay at home and keep their environment clean, just like a monthly holiday.
The government has just launched an operation called Plant a Hundred Trees and has deployed each student to plant and grow at least a hundred trees by the end of this year. This is really commendable, and we are taking the bull by the horns.
We equally have sanitation officers that go around streets and towns to enforce laws or clean the planet on the citizens, and anyone caught in a dirty neighborhood is sanctioned.
A refuse disposable tank has been placed in every corner of our street, and the government is tasked with the collection and disposal of our refuse. These are the measures put in place here to keep our environments clean, and I hope that other places can adopt them too.
