One of the things that fascinate me about cacti and succulents are the photographs that I can get, the truth is that I think that was the main reason to get into this world of which now I can' t get out, I don' t take pictures anymore and the ones I take I leave them for me, but well after so many days of work in the garden I want to show the result of the community pots and why I decided to make them.
Melocactus matanzanus
I think everything is in stages, we start with a plant or two, then we go and buy more and start looking at other species getting to the point where we decide to create a collection of one or more genera according to our tastes, in my case I don't know what stage I am in but for the moment I decided it was time to return to my main interest which is photography, my idea is to create environments similar to the conditions that these cacti have in their natural habitat, I'm not sure if I am right because I still need to do more research.
Wild mammilarias
It is not good to have wild Mammilarias because you know, you have to avoid stealing from nature, in my case these mammilarias were given to me as a gift so I couldn't refuse to receive them, now it's my job to conserve the species, wait for them to give seeds and start a long way to grow those seeds, and of course, at some point go to some mountain and take those babies, so I have been investigating if there is any program for the conservation of cacti in my city, for the moment I haven't found anything that doesn't require me to pay large amounts of money, that's what matters to the government of this city.
And well, I also like some succulents especially those that receive the sun's rays directly like this little warrior, which for some strange reason I don't know or remember its name.
Echinopsis oxygona is a type of cactus that cannot be missing in the collections, in fact I have been thinking of creating a collection with cacti of Mexican origin but that would deprive me of some beauties that I want to acquire, these Echinopsis were a gift from my friend Fernando and if you remember when he gave them to me they were a little damaged, it was seen that they had been attacked by mealy bugs but after giving them treatment they look great in the community pot.
I have always thought this one is a Mammilaria elongata although its color is very red even if I put it away from the sun, however I like it in the community pot and there it will stay for a long time.
This cactus is one of the unknown ones for me, I have found different names and I have tried to identify it correctly, I still don't know for sure its name but it is definitely one of the ones I like the most.
Another Echinopsis oxygona, I planted some in this community pot, hopefully they will be of different color, that was what Fernando told me when he gave them to me, I hope that next spring they will give me their first flowers, although it could be much later.
Finally don't think that I forget to show the result of the effort of sowing seeds, for example these are specimens of Ferocatus latispinus which I already took out of the seedbed and will begin to receive more hours of sunlight, and even a little fertilizer since I hope to have time and money to make a couple of small greenhouses so that they don't stop growing in the winter season.
