I love the Taunt ability in Splinterlands and one of my favorite monsters with it is the Wave Brood because I can use it in the backline and combine it with several monsters with the Triage ability, in addition the Wave Brood is an excellent ally in the Going to the Distance rule.
In the Going to the Distance rule, players can only use monsters that have a ranged attack.
The Wave Brood is a monster that belongs to the water deck, which means that the player can only use it if they choose the water deck for the battle.
The Wave Brood's mana cost is 8, it has a ranged attack and 4 abilities: Taunt, Close Range, Void and Return Fire.
The Wave Brood is a bad choice when it comes to causing damage because its attack is low, but it is still very useful in battle as a defensive monster because it has a lot of life and great abilities, now I will explain its abilities.
The Taunt ability makes the Wave Brood the main target of enemy monsters, with the exception of monsters that have the Scattershot ability because they attack randomly.
If the Wave Brood is not in the first position then it will also not be targeted by the enemy monster that is in the first position and the monster that has the Reach ability.
The Close Range ability allows the Wave Brood to attack in the first position.
The Void ability makes the Wave Brood take only half damage against magic attacks.
The Return Fire ability makes the Wave Brood return part of the ranged damage received, this means that if a monster with a ranged attack attacks the Wave Brood then that monster will take 50% of the ranged damage it deals to the Wave Brood.
As you can see, the Wave Brood is not a great choice for dealing damage but it has great abilities, it is a great choice, especially against monsters with magic and ranged attacks.
One of my main strategies with the Wave Brood is to select it in the backline and use 1 or 2 monsters with the Triage ability so that it can be healed and keep my other monsters safe while it is the target of enemy attacks.
Whenever I rent cards in Splinterlands, Wave Brood is indispensable for my battles and is one of the cards I use most in the water deck.
