Every year, I come to HiveFest and tell myself, "Don't overshoot, just do what you need." Then the festival happens, and I ask myself, "But what do you need? What does the community need? What do developers need? What do content creators need? What do people from Mexico, Cuba, Europe, and the USA need? What do people in Africa want to see? What do 'normies' want to see? What does the Blockchain world want to see?" And there's our community, with me in between. Oh yes, or oh no—there's no chance, at least for me, not to overshoot. The reason I attend these HiveFests is to give something of myself, and how I can do it is by doing my best to use my vision to create something that will be watchable and please the people who attend, as well as those who couldn't.
So here I am with a ton of footage, believe it or not, but I've got over 2TB of footage, over 4 hours, and it needs to be condensed to just 2-3 minutes. The process is very time-consuming, and I rely on the editor to handle the finishing part. However, as an attendee and filmmaker, I need to go through the footage and select the best parts to reduce that 4 hours to 20 minutes before it goes to the editor. I don't want the editor to work on it initially, just in case they cut out @starkerz, @theycallmedan, or @blocktrades, among others. So, what I try to do in the process is ensure that everyone is involved. I can showcase both significant and minor parts and anything that only associates with individual attendees.
So I'm finally free to do it, and I'm working hard to condense the footage and deliver it as soon as possible. It will be released at a time when most of you have forgotten about the event, and I hope the video will bring back memories, so everyone will be excited for another event.
Meanwhile I share few screen grabs from the event.
