That's why we see with greater normality so many things that before were not, and meeting this story made me understand many things despite that, of being “normal”. I can't deny that, at the beginning, I had a very wrong idea about the drama that my eyes were going to witness, and even more being a Swedish film (I had never seen one). The protagonist and director Josephine Bornebusch, created an overwhelming story of something so “simple”, Let go is a slap in the face of reality that more than one should have in their life, even if this is not exactly about the same thing that is presented here.

No puedo negar que, al principio, tenía una idea muy equivocada sobre el drama que iban a presenciar mis ojos, y más tratándose de un film sueco (nunca había visto uno). Desde el comienzo sabemos que a Stella le ocurre algo, aunque aun no nos dicen de qué se trata, y por supuesto que ella se lo va a callar hasta lo último. Y tras un día caótico con sus hijos, su esposo también pone su granito de arena y le pide el divorcio. Podemos observar cómo Stella lleva a cuestas toda la carga de la familia, el tratar de criar bien a sus hijos y callar sus propios problemas, pero con este nuevo acto de su esposo, llega un algo más doloroso que todo lo malo que le ocurre a ella. Intentar hacerle ver un poco de la evasión de responsabilidades y emociones para con sus hijos, se vuelve la meta de Stella.

Porque también aquí tenemos que aceptar que algunas veces los hombres no siempre son los culpables de todo, Gustav también tiene sus razones de ser (no justificables ni válidas, pero razones al fin). We have already seen this family dynamic represented many times, maybe we even know real stories about it, but we fall into my initial point: the normal, simple and overwhelming. Seeing how Stella slowly decays, slowly fades our emotions, you want to go beyond the screen and hug her so that she understands that everything will be okay, even though it's not. It makes you reflect on all those times you let an argument pass because of pride or just not wanting to bother; sometimes it is necessary and healthier to face that discomfort and change for those around you before it is too late, just as it happened to Gustav with Stella.
A pesar de tratarse de una historia llena de drama y que muchas veces nos hará molestar, tiene sus momentos en los que nos puede robar sonrisas, puede resultar algo irónico, pero luego de que sonrías te viene un golpe fuerte, Stella no da descanso ningún instante. Esta dinámica familiar ya la hemos visto representada muchas veces, capaz hasta conocemos historias reales sobre esto, pero caemos en mi punto inicial: lo normal, simple y abrumador. Ver cómo va decayendo poco a poco Stella, desvanece poco a poco nuestras emociones, quieres traspasar la pantalla y abrazarla para que entienda que todo estará bien, aunque en realidad no lo esté. Te hace reflexionar todas esas veces que dejaste pasar una discusión por orgullo o simplemente no querer molestar; a veces es necesario y más sano enfrentar esa incomodidad y cambiar por quienes están a tu alrededor antes de que sea muy tarde, tal y como le pasó a Gustav con Stella.
This story, while “usual”, Josephine makes your insides churn in every scene. It really is very good, and I know I already told you it's my first Swedish movie, but it's already become my favorite; it's full of strong messages, messages full of love, messages that hurt, in short... this story is like a scolding from mom about how we lead our lives and our relationships (of all kinds). And I think it goes without saying, but if you ask me, I will answer as I always do: “If you haven't seen it, see it, and if you have seen it, see it again, you can't lose anything”.
Esta historia, si bien es “habitual”, Josephine hace que se te remuevan las entrañas en cada escena. Realmente es muy buena, y sé que ya les dije que es mi primera película sueca, pero ya se volvió mi favorita; está llena de mensajes fuertes, mensajes llenos de amor, mensajes que duelen, en fin… esta historia es como un regaño de mamá sobre cómo llevamos nuestras vidas y nuestras relaciones (de todo tipo).
