There are many times when I will want to go get something from inside a room, but when I enter that room, I tend to forget everything and it will be as if my brain was erased. Even if I try to use other objects to remember what I came into the room to collect, it will still not work.
Sometimes, I will end up walking up and down with my hands on my waist while I think deep - what the hell did I came to get in this room? Sometimes, I totally forget the thing and go back to what I was doing. After sometime, the need of that thing I forgot initially arises, and that's when I will remember what I initially went to get from that room at first.
Other times, when I'm out of the room, I will immediately remember what I came to get.
Though this is actually a natural phenomenon, it is very frustrating as the memory of what I came to get slips from my brain. Lol, maybe there's an alien that used a mind wipe on me. Haha.
There are many times when forgetting tend to cost a huge deal, sometimes, a lot of money in repairs.
Have you ever cooked burnt offering before? You will come back from work tired, and decide to cook something for your growling stomach only for you to forget that you put something on fire which will end up burning.
Forgetfulness has cost me quite a large number of things, ranging from a good meal to almost burning down my house.
It was a stressful day, and I came back from work to cool off and relax when I remembered that I had to boil a herbal tea. The tea consist of some seeds that needs to boiled for a very long time for it to be effective.
I went to the kitchen, and first made food for my self. After the meal, I put the herbs inside a kettle, and added a lot of water.
I calculated that when the water boiled and reaches half of the kettle, I will pour out the water and take the tea. One thing I forgot to calculate was that, I'll be on socials, and I was really stressed out, so, I may sleep off.
I placed the kettle on fire, and went inside to sit down. I began watching some reels while I chat at the same time. My sitting position gradually turned into lying position. By then, I have totally forgotten that I placed something on fire.
My eyes started closing. Thinking it was safe, I kept my phone and embraced the sleep. I woke up when I began to choke on smoke. I could not breathe as everywhere was filled with thick smoke.
I began to wonder, is my neighbor's house on fire? Not knowing that it was my house that's smoking.
I went out to check, only to remember that before I slept, I placed something on fire. I immediately dashed to the kitchen and saw that my tea has turned into burnt offering. The seeds were already charcoal, and they were red.
I immediately went to off the gass but I couldn't because the handle was already very hot, so, with the aid of a kitchen towel, I offed the gas cooker. I opened the windows and doors for the smoke to leave the house. When I examined the house, I noticed that my ceiling has turned from white to black.
All I could do at this moment was to thank God. What if the gas cooker exploded?
The next day, I got some white paint to repaint my ceiling and I did a thorough clean up. The kettle was all-black as charcoal enveloped every of its corner.
One thing I learnt from this encounter is to always crosscheck stuffs. Even if it feels like everything is perfect, I should always crosscheck one more time.
