Great online card game players in the room, I would like to salute your passion for this type of games and welcome you to this short story on my discovery of the game on Hive that will keep me daily active on the blockchain.

Literally I have not miss one day of doing something on Splinterlands game since I joined in 2021.

It has not been a smooth ride because back at the start I was not capable to convert local fiat current in my country into crypto in order to unlock the game.

My first attempt to play was in demo version and reading on discord channel the best tips to improve player's strategies either using Beta cards or Alpha cards.

Where the journey begins....

I was on the first blockchain, back before the Hard fork. I knew about the discord group where Blogger share tips for players on various online game on the blockchain and sometime on diverse other projects.

My focus went directly to this new game of cards on Blockchain with combat and rewards to the winner in crypto.

I was convinced because I knew how this type of game environment grow, and the tactics get really complex. I played Many other cards game where fighter on the description inflict damage to enemies cards.

It was even cooler because of the crypto component attached to it. I wanted to move hard on this project, but there was a lack of financial installation in my country to facilitate the acquisition of packs on those days.

It was the water elemental warrior summoner Alric Stormbringerl. I bought many packs after the spell book was paid with the help of a friend living in France.

I opened my first selection of water warriors in the Bronze league capable to fight no further than the Silver III.
As a new player, I was lucky to have spent so many hours reading strategies of combat in discord group. I could defeat most of the novice in Bronze and earn my first DEC.

The strategies were in my mind but the resources to meet the requirement to level up my warriors were not available as fast as my selection was moving up the rank.

I could not move pass the Silver II for four months due to the lack of crypto, but it was not a moment to lose courage but a practice occasion to explore the cards market and after a few weeks the rental market.

My first strategy was only limited to the water element. It was my strongest selection in the entire set of cards in my possession.

My strategies were to bring the magic and healing warriors as much as possible on the battlefield. I could not change much of gameplan because I focus only on the water element when I started.

I found the diversification of style of combat much more beneficial for my situation later when I was capable to rent cards and win much more combats.

On one occasion, I sold many crypto and convert the found in to DEC. I was capable to buy more than 200 packs in both Beta and Untamed released set of cards.

My collection never lost a card since that moment, almost three years now without one single cards sold on the markets from my account. I kept all the cards to have the potential to fight the enemy with a larger range of ability even though the max level was not activated.

-/- Final thoughts

My journey on Splinterlands is one of the slowest in the community if I compare to other players. It has been a fun journey with many limitations but also strategies to build around and make a long-lasting progression in the battle ranking.

My strategies on the board has got more complex than when I reflect on the beginnings of my adventure on Pretoria land.

If the Conclave set is released, I will jump in with way more resource than I did three years ago because exchanges are available in the geographical region I lived in Africa. It has become so much simple to convert XOF to Hive and build on Splinterlands.
