Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog. Gone are the days when the only place you could be bullied was in school or at work. In those days, if you were being bullied, you just knew that after school or work you would be free and the bullies would have to wait until the next day before they could prey on the victim again, but technology changed all of that; it has given room to be bullied daily with no day off. After offline bullying, the bullies have the chance to continue what they do online thanks to the evolution of technology that allows us to stay in touch even when we are far apart.
There are many kids and even adults who are being bullied both online and offline, and bullying is actually one of the major causes of depression and trauma. Many who suffered bullying never remain the same after the experience. This particular experience leaves a scar, one that will be there to keep reminding them what they had to deal with, what the bullies put them through, the shame, the disgrace, and the embarrassment. All that keeps playing in their head, and finding a way out of that becomes really difficult.
So for those who do not know, bullying simply refers to an act where one person is mean to another person intentionally or is just out to hurt another with every given opportunity and every time their paths cross. The ill treatment every time causes the one at the receiving end to lose confidence in themselves. Bullying is actually one of the leading causes of suicide; not everyone can live with the trauma. Some feel committing suicide is the best way out of the situation and how to fight the trauma, but it is not so. Nobody is saying it is easy to fight the trauma or forget it, but suicide is not an option.
Cyberbullying was made possible thanks to technology. Cyberbullying is exactly the same thing as normal offline bullying; the only difference is that this one takes place online or in a digital space, and lately it is the leading type of bullying because we have all retired to digital spaces and spend very little time with one another offline. Sometimes you see hate speech and insults targeted at a particular person online from the same person all the time and for just no good reason; that can be considered cyberbullying.
The number of times at which people's private details (videos, pictures, achievements) are posted online without their consent is something I cannot count, sometimes just to hurt their emotions and ego, and the bullies do it continuously and often because the number of people we have in the digital space makes cyberbullying the worst type of bullying; being bullied before millions of people cuts deeper than offline bullying, where you can count the number of people watching. Both offline and cyberbullying leave a scar on the victim, and it is time for us to put all of that to a stop and make the world a better space.
