Hello, everyone.
While growing up, we all got to know the meaning of peer pressure differently. Some of us first heard of it in school, while others heard it at home or in church. Some of us learned about this word after it had an effect on us, in most cases a negative effect. Peer pressure works either way; it either affects one negatively or positively. It is all up to the individual and the type of people they surround themselves with to decide how their peers affect them. Peer pressure is something nearly impossible to avoid while growing up; it is left for you to decide how it affects you.

Whichever way an individual allows peer pressure to affect them, they are definitely paying the price, whether negatively or positively. Peer pressure is a common thing in our society; it has left many with regrets in the same way it has left many in a better position. The people we associate with (our peers) have an effect on our lives; in most cases, this is why we are advised to choose our friends wisely. One way or another, you must have been influenced to do something you wouldn't do on your own or on a normal day.
This simply refers to the influence individuals within a class have on each other in trying to get one another to partake in certain activities they won't partake in on their own. The influence your group of friends or individuals you associate with have over you. It can be defined in so many ways, but it all revolves around the influence of the people you associate with.
I joined the hive platform because of my peers back then. I really did not want to join because I heard it had to do with writing and creating a post and I was not good with that, but whenever we hang out, they keep talking about votes, how they had writers block, and all their conversation was channeled towards the hive platform, and I started feeling left out. When I couldn't take it anymore, I created an account, and it was the best decision I ever made. Sometimes we are influenced positively by our peers, and sometimes negatively. It all depends on the type of people you hang out with.
There are so many ways one can overcome peer pressure. It is not easy to get it off one's shoulders, but it is possible to do away with it.
Don't let yourself suffer inferiority complex if you give room for inferiority complex, you try to do certain things you won't do on your own in order to fit in or to feel competent enough amongst your peers. The inferiority complex makes you feel incompetent, so in order to feel competent, you are easily influenced and bent to their will.
Cut off from anyone or anything whenever you feel pressured. Whenever you feel like an individual or group of individuals are putting so much pressure on you to get you to do things you wouldn't do on a normal day, it is best that you let go of the friendship or relationship.
Dialogue: Here you talk to the individual or group of individuals who are making you feel pressured; let them know how you feel and how you wouldn't want to be involved in whatever they are pressuring you for. When you are being pressured, don't die in silence; let them know.
