Before I begin to answer this prompt, I have a question and coincidentally, it relates to the prompt. Now, for instance, let's say I turned my data off about three hours ago, and I haven't turned it on again since then. Neither did I leave my wi-fi on. But I find out that Whatsapp messages are being updated, Snapchat notifications are entering, and whatever other notification there is. What internet connection is the phone working with at that moment? (It allows for sending of Whatsapp messages as well, although it takes time). So, dear digitalysts, I'm usually left confused whenever this happens and I've experienced it over five times. Does it happen to you too?
I've not had so much experience with Wi-Fi's. It's only about two I've happened to be connected to and they're very unreliable. Let me tell you about them.

In my school bill, there is a specific amount allocated to recharging the router placed at strategic locations around the school, and in the hostel. But this wifi works only two times every semester - The beginning of a semester and examination period. By working, I don't mean the instant connection and speed. I mean the part that if you want a 25kb picture to load, you'll have to wait for about five minutes before it loads completely. That way, you know the wifi is actually working. As a student, I find this wifi very frustrating because apart from how slow it usually is, when it eventually connects during the day, there's the fact that if I am lying on my bed, my phone must be kept at a particular spot. If I should as much as turn, it'll become slower or worse still, the initial spot will cease to work.
But no matter how much I complain about the wifi, I've seen most of my friends use this wifi to download complete series. All they have to do is to stay up at night, monitoring the most favourable position. And since there's usually no traffic at that time, it works better. I'm a night owl but I'm too lazy to turn into a pilot just because I want to download a movie.
The other router I've had access to is the one at the company where I work currently. If someone has no idea how it feels like to be frustrated, they're very welcome to try the wifi at my workplace. The moment you connect, it says no internet for two minutes, connects in the third minute and disconnects in the next thirty seconds. You'll then start over. A colleague of mine once said that whatever happens with the wifi could be likened to choosing the wifi but the wifi not choosing you. It's so annoying that I would rather use my data, rather than try connecting to the route. It's that annoying.
As for mifis, I have a friend that has one. Due to the poor quality of network in my school, the mifi rarely works. It keeps saying poor internet connection during the duration of our meeting and I do feel very bad for her when she'll be left stranded due to poor internet.
As you've read, I haven't had good experiences with routers so far. I'm very comfortable with using data from my phone. It works with great speed, it is convenient, it works just fine for me. and I'm okay.
So there, you have it, the #digi-prompt for the week. I am a data girlie, mostly due to circumstances and not basically due to speed, convenience and whatnot.
