Hola querido hiver.
Cuando visité el mercadillo navideño de mi ciudad no te conté que hice una compra especial. Desde que era pequeña me han atraído las bolas de cristal. Lo más probable es que sea porque el programa infantil estrella en la España de los años 80 se llamaba así, La bola de cristal.
La hija de mi amiga colecciona minerales y cristales naturales y, mientras ella realizaba algunas compras, yo me fijé en una pequeña bola de cristal. Pregunté el precio pensando que sería elevado, pero los 15 € que me solicitaba el vendedor me parecieron adecuados, así que me hice con ella.
Unos días después la llevé conmigo en mi paseo mañanero por el parque con la intención de hacer algunas pruebas fotográficas con ella. Había visto las preciosidades que se pueden conseguir con su efecto de refracción de la luz y para aprender hay que practicar.
El paisaje invernal no facilitaba mucho la tarea, ya que los colores eran poco variados. Gracias a este cotoneaster coriaceus pude jugar un poco más, fijando la atención en sus pequeños frutos rojos.
Busqué diversos ángulos, así como jugar con las diversas lentes y enfoques de la cámara de mi teléfono móvil. Me sorprendió el efecto lupa que se logra.
Probé también a utilizar como objetos las pequeñas margaritas que crecen en el césped. Si me hubieras visto, parecía una contorsionista sujetando el peso de la bola sin que se me cayese, apuntando con mi teléfono y usando mi cuerpo para conseguir la sombra necesaria para que no deslumbrasen los rayos de luz, jajaja.
Mi conclusión después de estas pruebas es que el efecto lupa solo merece la pena si quiero desenfocar el fondo, pero como puedes comprobar en la última fotografía realizada sin la bola de cristal, la función macro de la cámara del teléfono obtiene mejor definición y detalle. En cambio, para fotografía de paisaje o como método para destacar determinados objetos, la bola de cristal es un recurso útil y que aporta originalidad.

Hi, dear hiver.
When I visited the Christmas market in my city I didn't tell you that I made a special purchase. Ever since I was a little girl I have been attracted to crystal balls. Most probably because the star children's programme in Spain in the 80's was called La bola de cristal (The crystal ball).
My friend's daughter collects natural minerals and crystals and, while she was doing some shopping, I noticed a small crystal ball. I asked the price thinking it would be high, but the 15 € the seller was asking for seemed adequate, so I got it.
A few days later I took it with me on my morning walk in the park with the intention of doing some photographic tests with it. I had seen the beautiful things that can be achieved with its light refraction effect and in order to learn you have to practice.
The winter landscape did not make the task much easier, as the colours were not very varied. Thanks to this cotoneaster coriaceus I was able to play a little more, focusing on its small red fruits.
I looked for different angles, as well as playing with the various lenses and focuses of my mobile phone camera. I was surprised by the magnifying glass effect.
I also tried using the small daisies growing on the lawn as objects. If you could have seen me, I looked like a contortionist holding the weight of the ball without dropping it, aiming with my phone and using my body to get the necessary shadow so that the light rays didn't dazzle, haha.
My conclusion after these tests is that the magnifying glass effect is only worth it if I want to blur the background, but as you can see in the last picture taken without the glass ball, the macro function of the phone camera gives better definition and detail. On the other hand, for landscape photography or as a method of highlighting certain objects, the crystal ball is a useful resource that adds originality.
