Dies ist mein heutiger Beitrag zu #animalphotography von @photocontests.

Ich habe diesen hübschen Straussenvogel im Oktober 2017 auf dem Gelände einer Straussenfarm in der Drome, Frankreich, aufgenommen. Wir waren damals auf dem Weg nach Südfrankreich und diese Farm bietet im Rahmen von France Passion (https://www.france-passion.com/de/) Stellplätze für Wohnmobile an.

Es war uns allen damals eine Freude, diese mächtigen Vögel ganz aus der Nähe zu erleben.

Hier gibt es aber nicht nur eine Verbleibmöglichkeit für Wohnmobil-Reisende, sondern es wird auch die Übernachtung in komfortablen Zigeuner-Wohnwagen angeboten.

Leider wurde die Straussenfarm im April dieses Jahres von herumirrenden Hunden heimgesucht, welche sich in der Nacht Zugang zum Gehege verschafften und insgesamt 18 Strausse töteten.

Ich hoffe, Pascal und Marie-Christine sowie ihre kleine aber feine Straussenfarm hat sich von dem Zwischenfall erholen können. Wir freuen uns jedenfalls, die Farm im Oktober wieder als Zwischenziel unserer Reise in den Süden anzufahren.

I photographed this pretty ostrich bird in October 2017 on the grounds of an ostrich farm in Drome, France. We were on our way to the South of France and this farm offers camping sites for motorhomes as part of France Passion (https://www.france-passion.com/de/).

It was a pleasure for all of us at that time to experience these mighty birds up close.

But here there is not only a possibility to stay for camper travellers, but also the overnight stay in comfortable gypsy caravans is offered.

Unfortunately, the ostrich farm was hit in April of this year by stray dogs, which gained access to the enclosure during the night and killed a total of 18 ostriches.

I hope Pascal and Marie-Christine and their small but fine ostrich farm were able to recover from the incident. In any case, we are happy to return to the farm this year in October as an intermediate destination of our trip to the south.
