Hello guys, this is my entry to the "Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!". If you want to participate and/or read more about the challenge, click here.
We are in the middle of another season of Splinterlands and like always we are forming new strategies and trying out new units and just experimenting a lot. This week I will talk about another interesting unit that I don't use a lot in my battles but it I have started using it lately and I can feel the positive impact from it. I am talking about "Baakjira". This is a legendary unit that came out in the Chaos Legion pack. It has no attacks of its own but is still a great unit. I will show you why, let's take a look at its stats in detail.

Baakjira

Baakjira is a legendary water unit. This costs 6 mana but has no attacks of its own. However, its abilities and huge amount of health make it a useful unit to be used in your battles.
I had a level 2 unit which comes with just 2-speed points. But it has 12 health points which is very useful but the best part is its Void ability that makes it a good tank even against magic attackers. It also came with 'slow' and 'strengthen' abilities which affects all the units in the battle. All these units are very powerful and useful. Using it as a tank is a nice idea, moreover, you can use it as a secondary tank as well.
Let's see how I utilized it in one of my battles.

My Lineup
This is my lineup for the battle
It was a 38-mana cap battle and had the standard ruleset. Also, all except the 'dragon' element were active during the battle.
That meant I had all the options available at my disposal so I went with the water element.
I used the Keyla Frendul as my summoner. It gave extra armour and +1 speed to all my monsters.

I used the Baakjira in the first position. As I earlier stated it was a good choice for a tank, especially when I was expecting my opponent to use a heavy magic attack. Its 'Void', 'Slow' and 'Strengthen' abilities are very powerful and were a game changer during this battle.
In the next position, as a secondary tank, I used the Djinn Oshannus. This is a powerful attacker which deals with 2 magic attacks. It is also a strong tank and has the 'Void' and 'Phase' abilities. It costs 8 mana but its stats justify it easily. As you will see in the battle, it proved to be a strong defender who stood firmly at the front of the lineup throughout the battle.
Next was the Venari Wavesmith, another magic attacker dealing 2 attack damage. Only costing 5 mana, it comes with a very useful 'protect' ability which gave all the friendly units extra 2 armour so they will take more hits to go down. But its health is a little low.
Another impressive unit in my lineup was Runemancer Kye. This is a legendary mage which costs 11 mana and deals with 3 magic attacks with good speed. I used it to improve my attacking strength. But this doesn't mean it lacks the defensive capability. Its two interesting ability makes it last much longer. The 'Life leech' ability is one of my favourite abilities in this game.
Ice Pixie came in the next position, this was another mage which costs just 2 mana but attacks with good speed and also has the 'flying' ability which helps it to dodge more attacks from melee and ranged attackers.
Last but not least was the Halfing Alchemist. This was the only ranged attacker in my lineup and it comes with a unique ability called 'halving'. This will reduce its target's attack by half and is very effective against strong attacking tanks.
Now that my lineup was set, it was time for battle.

I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.

My Strategy
Because of the standard ruleset, I have complete freedom to choose how I should attack. Naturally, I went for the heavy magic attack while I made sure to expect the same and come up with a counter.
Both my primary and secondary tank has the 'Void' ability which is very effective against magic attacks. Also, the Baakjira held the fort beautifully for so long during the battle which I expected from a strong defensive unit.
While I focused more on attacks I didn't sleep on my defensive capabilities as well. I used the Vineri Wavesmith which provided extra 2 armour to all my friendly units and combined with the summoner's armour I had at least 3 armour on every unit to start with.
This strategy, as you will see, worked in my favour and gave me a nice win at the end.

My opponent went with a strong tank, the Djinn Oshannus and used a monster with 'repair' and 'tank heal' abilities. All three of them were a strong combination and complemented each other beautifully. While my Baakjira was also standing in the front like a fort.
My backline was much weaker than the frontline and they managed to kill my Ice pixie in the 4th round.
After taking hit after hit for 4 rounds, my tank finally was killed in the fifth round. But it did its job exceptionally well. I still had a couple of very strong units in my lineup which made all the difference.
By the end of round 7, their Djinn Oshannus finally dropped dead and now all the synergy was broken in their lineup.
The game still went on for a few more rounds but my attack was too strong for the remaining units and at last in round 12 I won the match with my Djinn Oshannus still breathing in the first place.

Conclusion
As you just saw in the above battle, Baakjira can be a decisive factor in your lineup, it absorbed maximum attacks from my enemy team for more than 4 rounds while providing buffs and debuffs for my team and opponents respectively.
Costing just 6 mana it is a powerful defender and will hold your front line for long. It's 12 health and 'Void' ability is perfect to deal against the magic attackers which is the strongest attack type in the game.
I recommend this unit. Let me know if you use any other strategies and what are your views about this unit.
