When I first saw today's contest topic, I immediately knew what my response to it would be. There has never been a day I've ever agreed with the whole "The customer is always right" saying and this is simply because I feel it's bullshit. No one should be given such power, not the seller or the one providing the services and most definitely not the customers.
Giving someone the right to be always right is literally making that person a god because whatever they say goes once it has to do with your business simply because they're your customers.
No one in their right senses should even allow anyone to be always right in their business or place of work. Not even your boss can have that right because there will come a time when you will have to correct him or her every now and then because he or she too is human and humans make mistakes.
Now one of the reasons why I say the whole Customer is always right will never be accepted by me is because people can be cruel sometimes and if you let them be right all the time, if you try to do things their way because they're your "customers" your business might just end up closing down.
A good reason why I say this is because I've had personal experiences with things like this. My mom used to own a shop where she sells all kind of foodstuff and provision and then it got to a stage where after I was done with high-school, I was the only helping her out because my brothers were either working or in the university, so I was the only one who was at home full time, hence the reason why I was always at her shop.
Now there are people who will come to buy some stuff and then after a while, they bring it back, giving one stupid reason or another why they no longer want it and want something else. Now if this were some Air Jordan's or anything like that, I could easily take it back and place it back at the store, but this were perishable goods, goods that we don't even permit people to touch unless payment has been made so as to avoid germs in people's hand getting into it and yet you bring it back to return it?
Now imagine if everyone did that and we said nothing because "customers are always right" what do you think will happen to the last person who finally buys it and eats it. He or she might end up getting sick and probably worse.
Now this is just one scenerio. There are others where the customers are just rude and annoying and (in my opinion) should be put in their place. For real, if maybe somehow this whole the customer is always right gets made a rule, business owners will suffer, it will be nothing but chaos for them.
And that is why I say no one should be given such power.
