Isn't it astonishing, bewildering and mysterious how we can be in our head, our thought. How we literally stay there to see, imagine, consider, plan and ruminate before taking action. The human mind is so powerful and vast that it can house anything as long as you can think it: in fact, we are a reflection of our thoughts as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Our actions aren't far from our thoughts. Crazy part is that we can do it for free, we don't pay for it and do not space in terms gigabyte or terabyte, it is as much as you can. And our thoughts, gradually can form a mindset.
Overthink wasn't my thing, I'd rather find another way if there is, I could respond or take action very little or no thoughts and other times, run from it if it's possible to avoid. I just hated how I have to sit on certain matters for long to deliberate and decide which action has more favourable outcomes and which one doesn't. It's really makes me uncomfortable when I have to go through that process of thinking and thinking again, it used to stress me each time I tried it. I did not like to hear people say they are an over thinker, firstly because I use to find it stressful and secondly, my encounter with some over thinkers wasn't so nice. Even in times of trouble, I don't overthink I just avoid it and go through the process, I was less concerned about taking predetermined actions and decisions: just flow with it or run from it if possible.
However, one cannot avoid it. Some level of responsibility will always demand that you process and filter your decisions and actions before taking them. There are important decisions in life that will require hours, days and sometimes weeks of careful deep thoughts because the outcome of whatever decision is made will determine nearest future or affect a larger percentage of your life. For example, the kind of person you want as friend, the course to study and school of choice, the person to date or marry, the kind of work to do or career to choose, what and what not to give time to, what to invest in, etc. These aren't things to joke with.
Sometimes last year, I had a really tough time with my career as a visual designer and being a student. My laptop was just developing issues every month and it was quite a lot for me plus I had a project fee to pay for also, needed foodstuffs. I needed the laptop to work so I can get paid for work done. I couldn't ask my parents for money so I decided to power down, the feeling and decision was not pleasant at all but I had too. It took about a month before I finally decided to power down my Hive account. I fixed some part of the laptop but left the battery, it became a desktop since it can't last more than 22 minutes without being connected to power. I was also learning frontend development then too and I got free access to a good course. I didn't want to lose the opportunity of learning for free, didn't want to quit my career since I was just building up my brand. It was a lot. While waiting for power down I tried to meet a friend to learn how to design with phone which was a big challenge for me who had gotten used to working on a laptop. I forced myself to because I knew I wouldn't be doing myself any help if don't learn it while I can.
Well, I think I tried my best, got some things sorted, the whole overthinking paid off. The laptop is still in the act of developing a fault, presently with an engineer but I was able to pay part of my project fee before my parents sent the full money, I had to save myself some face. Currently, I do not feel so bad for powering down then because the value was way low then than it is now. I did what I had to do and can still acquire more HP overtime by posting. One other thing about over thinking or not is that we will have to live forever with the outcomes of every single decisions we have made, be it small or big. It is one of the principle of life, to live with our decisions.
Contrary to a popular saying here 'overthinking cannot solve problems'. I believe overthinking can solve just some problem, it can give some extra insight to certain things because you are paying more attention to it. In all you do, try to be a healthy over thinker.
