Definitely, education nowadays makes us connect with our children, work as a team and create wonderful things. On the one hand, we are giving a new opportunity to things that many people throw away for lack of creativity and awareness for the care of our planet. And on the other hand, we are working as a team with our children, we are teaching them and at the same time, we as parents, are learning to create useful things and to recycle.
This time we had to talk about the growth of the world's population and we had to make a didactic game. I, of course, had no idea what I could do because crafts have never been my strength. But it had to be done, so I had to try.
I'll tell you about the materials I used to make the puzzle:

Definitivamente, la educación actualmente hace que nos conectemos con nuestros hijos, que trabajemos en equipo y logremos crear cosas maravillosas. Por un lado, le estamos dando una nueva oportunidad a cosas que mucha gente desecha por falta de creatividad y de consciencia por el cuidado de nuestro planeta. Y por el otro, estamos trabajando en equipo con nuestros hijos, les estamos enseñando y al mismo tiempo, nosotros como padres, aprendemos a crear cosas útiles y a reciclar.
Esta vez nos tocó hablar del crecimiento de la población mundial y había que hacer un juego didáctico. Yo, por supuesto, no tenía idea de lo que podía hacer porque las manualidades no han sido nunca mi fortaleza. Pero había que hacerlo, así que tenía que intentar.
Te cuento los materiales que utilicé para hacer el rompecabezas:

Step by step
The first thing we did, was to cut one of the sides of the cardboard box with the exacto carefully. Then we painted that piece of cardboard with black paint on both sides.

Paso a paso
Lo primero que hicimos, fue cortar uno de los laterales de la caja de cartón con el exacto con cuidado. Después pintamos esa pieza de cartón con pintura negra por ambos lados.
We waited for it to dry completely, to continue with the next step. Once both sides of the cardboard are dry, we start tracing a big circle in the middle with the white marker. I used the lid of a plastic food container. Then, inside the circle, I began to draw the shape of the American continent (as close as possible, sorry, not sorry).

Esperamos a que se secara por completo, para continuar con el siguiente paso. Una vez secas ambas caras del cartón, comenzamos a trazar un círculo grande el el medio, con el marcador blanco. Yo utilicé para ello, la tapa de un envase de plástico para guardar comida. Acto seguido, dentro del círculo, comencé a dibujar la forma del continente americano. (Lo más parecido posible, perdón).
After this, we proceeded to paint with the appropriate colors. Green and blue. My son colored the part that corresponds to the Earth and I colored the ocean. Then we waited for it to dry. The good thing about this cold paint on the surface of the cardboard is that it dries very fast.

Después de esto, procedimos a pintar con los colores adecuados. Verde y azul. Mi hijo coloreó la parte que corresponde a la Tierra y yo, al océano. Luego, esperamos a secar. Lo bueno de esta pintura al frío sobre la superficie del cartón, es que su secado es muy rápido.
And that's how it was looking. Then I looked for images on Google to see how I could do the population growth, but it was quite difficult for someone like me, no expert with the brush, to make drawings like the ones I was seeing, so it occurred to me that I could make figurines like the ones made by small children, since it was also a didactic game. And that's what I did. To fill each doodle with color, I used the top end of the brush, not the brush.

Y así nos iba quedando. Entonces busqué imágenes por Google para ver cómo podría hacer lo del crecimiento de la población, pero estaba bastante difícil para alguien como yo, nada experta con el pincel, hacer dibujos como los que estaba viendo, así que se me ocurrió que podría hacer figuritas como las que hacen los niños pequeños, pues además se trataba de un juego didáctico. Y eso hice. Para rellenar cada garabato de color, usé la punta del pincel, no la brocha.
Now we waited for the figurines to dry. In the meantime I started looking for a puzzle that my son had been given as a present when he was a child. Because, although I had a vague idea of what I wanted to do, I didn't have it clearly defined in my mind. It was our first time.
Of course, common sense played an important role in all of this.
What we did was that from the back of the cardboard, we measured how many centimeters it was and divided it into equal parts, not so small, but not so big either.
As the saying goes “neither so bald, nor with two wigs”. Then, we made the respective traces of a traditional jigsaw puzzle, and then cut each of the pieces.

Ahora esperamos que se secaran las figuritas. Mientras tanto comencé a buscar un rompecabezas que le habían regalado a mi hijo cuando era niño. Porque, aunque tenía una vaga idea de lo que quería hacer, no lo tenía claramente definido en mi mente. Era nuestra primera vez.
Claro, el sentido común jugó un papel importante en todo esto.
Lo que hicimos fue que por la parte trasera del cartón, medimos cuántos centímetros tenía y dividirla en partes iguales, no tan pequeñas, pero tampoco tan grandes.
Como dice el refrán "ni tan calvo, ni con dos pelucas". Luego, le hicimos los respectivos trazos de un rompecabezas tradicional, para luego cortar cada una de las piezas.

En este punto, empezó la parte difícil para mí, porque el cutter y yo, no nos llevamos muy bien. Siempre me ha costado usarlo, pero tenía que hacerlo, porque ahora mi hijo estaba ocupado con la parte teórica de esta actividad. Estábamos contra reloj, ya que tenía otras dos actividades, entre ellas, una exposición. De manera que lo corté yo y... ¡lo logré sin contratiempos! Lo único esque me demoré un poco.
