Reading this post on your account, @minismallholding, lots to think about here.
"... it's normal for children to be self absorbed as the prefrontal cortex takes about 25 years to fully develop."
25 years of age. The age when a child truly becomes an adult? At least fully an adult?
"However, where do we draw the line between accommodating for the fact that all people generally are different in the way they think and act and allowing it to be used as an excuse for them to get away with behaving terribly towards other people?"
Does making excuses rather than take personal responsibility for our actions seem to be a steadily increasing trend? It sure seems that way.
These points stood out to me:
"My theory is that in western culture we are awkward not because of neurodivergence, but because we've become so far removed from our community dynamics."
"I've found the people most likely to invite you into their homes out of the blue in a friendly manner when you hardly know them usually have messy houses and don't seem to care what you think."
Communities of the past, in the real world, have been replaced by what? We all have the same 24 / 7 / 365. What are we doing with our time? Whole posts have and will be written in response.
Just being open and friendly seems to be in decline somehow. Focusing on what unites us rather than divides us has to be at least part of the answer.
"What Even is Neurotypical?"
The details associated with the various classifications you list are outside my comfort zone to comment on, as I have little experience with them.
I'll just say I have some sympathy only to the extent they seem to be indicators of something not being as healthy with us, as we might like. If so, we can hope that the root causes of this are more clearly understood and then fully addressed, for the sake of those coming after us.
