I was inspired by thisismylife
's recent blogging challenge on @liketu
, 'The 30 Pictures 30 Stories Challenge'.
They were originally inspired by rubencress
'30 day not-so ordinary ordinary items challenge' and I find both challenges a great way to encourage daily posting on hive.
This challenge is pretty open-ended; please feel free to follow my formula, or thisismylife's or rubencress' challenge structures listed in their posts linked above 🔼
The only stipulations are that you post one picture daily with a personal story for 30 days.
Write your story/anecdote to the best of your ability, and use the tag #30stories and/or the #notsoordinary tag if you're following rubencress' challenge. It is also advised to use the #challenge tag.
As I am a professional writer outside of hive blockchain and only dabble as an amateur photographer, I thought I would follow thisismylife's
challenge format to tell some stories and anecdotes about my strange life.
Sometimes you just have to kick back and relax, and after the day I’ve had I’m certainly going to enjoy this drink I’ve just made while I while away twenty minutes writing a blog for my 30-day hive blogging challenge.
Let’s see if the writing becomes more drunken as I go along, or if like Hemmingway, the booze just fuels the prose 😂
When I say it is time to kick back you might think WTF raj808, how dare you enjoy a pint of Posh Gin and Tonic while writing your blog… highly unprofessional!
If we’re going to talk about writing professionals, let me elaborate in list format what my day has entailed apart from the ten times I got up from my computer chair to eat, make coffee or stretch in the last ten hours.
At 6.30am I woke up, much to the protestations of my girlfriend who groaned at me as I slid out of bed and said the immortal words she’s getting very used to “I can’t sleep, I’m off to write.”
At around 7 am I had eaten my morning omelettes and brewed a cup of coffee so I fired up the beast (my affectionate name for the gaming PC I built 11 years ago which is still alive and kicking).
From 7.05am-11 am I wrote ten thousand words of the second novel in my fantasy trilogy project, and spent a short amount of that time (maybe thirty minutes) editing part of novel one that is currently under scrutiny.
At 11am my girlfriend woke up and saved me from myself by pulling me away from the computer and onto the couch to watch a few episodes of ‘come dine with me’, while she ate breakfast, something of a ritual for us to watch together.
Around 1pm I was at it again with a deadline looming on a freelance piece for a website I regularly write for I spent three hours researching and writing the article (with my earphones in to drown out the TV).
I drove my girlfriend home at around 4.30pm and grabbed some supplies (including all the makings of this Gin creation) from the supermarket before arriving home, making this bad boy, taking a picture and sitting down to write this blog.
Now I’m not going to pretend today’s blog is high art… or even anything more than a ‘slice of life’ piece.
But sometimes you just have to kick back and relax… and I feel like I’ve fully earned it today.
As they say in my neck of the woods… cheers.
If you’d like to recreate my G&T magic follow the steps below and enjoy getting sozzled.
Posh Gin and Tonic Basic recipe:
- A triple measure of gin (it is a pint glass after all)
