I usually don't drink real ales at all due to a chronic gut illness... but by this point (3 am) I didn't care and had a pint of Mango Unchained.

In the words of Underworld... Lager, Lager, Lager, Lager, Lager ;-)

Beer is much better shared with someone you love :-)

Getting my pose onnnn. About to ride off into the sunset 'easy rider' style.
I was inspired by thisismylife
's recent blogging challenge on @liketu
, 'The 30 Pictures 30 Stories Challenge'.
They were originally inspired by rubencress
'30 day not-so ordinary ordinary items challenge' and I find both challenges a great way to encourage daily posting on hive.
This challenge is pretty open-ended; please feel free to follow my formula, or thisismylife's or rubencress' challenge structures listed in their posts linked above 🔼
The only stipulations are that you post one picture daily with a personal story for 30 days.
Write your story/anecdote to the best of your ability, and use the tag #30stories and/or the #notsoordinary tag if you're following rubencress' challenge. It is also advised to use the #challenge tag.
As I am a professional writer outside of hive blockchain and only dabble as an amateur photographer, I thought I would follow thisismylife's
challenge format to tell some stories and anecdotes about my strange life.
I don't have an alcohol problem... honest!
These pictures of debauchery, and 4 am drinking were simply the result of poetry. Yes, there is a dark side, and the dark side force is strong with this young Padawan 😉
But in all seriousness, I had just read out three of my poems two a room packed with over eighty people and had received a fantastic response to these poems. All of these are currently under consideration for a literary prize (so I can't share them here on hive) but I'm not banging on about my poems to show off.
What got me in that celebratory mood, and I mean drink till you can't think kinda celebration, was that the compare at the poetry night told me he wanted me to headline May's poetry night (basically I get a 15 min slot to perform instead of 5 min slot and my face is on the flyer etc).
It is one of those things that cements you in the Liverpool poetry scene and Ali, the man who organises Liverpool's premier poetry night told me it had been a long time coming. All in all, it was a massive ego boost, and although I've had poems accepted to print publications and been paid for them, this somehow feels more special.
The night will be themed, cryptically all I've been told so far is that the theme is 'beginnings' but this is perfect for me to be honest as I have a lot of material about 'new beginnings', escaping mental prisons, and the power of reinvention etc.
But what get's me most excited is that the poem I am going to walk onto is a music/poetry collaboration with one of the best people I've met in the last 6 years on steem hive called @nickyhavey
This amazing Drum'n'Bass producer has somehow managed to mix one of my stronger poems into a track that I am pretty sure will blow everyone's socks off, and I can't wait to walk out with it playing and just eyeball the audience, creating suspense and maybe even a little confusion, until I repeat the last verse along with the music confirming it is my poem.
I feel like it will be dramatic, and modern, adding quality to the event that even people who don't like poetry could get behind.
Think The Streets except I'm a better poet than Mike Skinner 😉
Anyway, that's why I got so extraordinarily drunk with my Girlfriend last night. I even broke my own rule about not drinking real ale due to a chronic gutt illness and downed two pints of the most excellent Mango Unchained 😂
Now comes the hard work, it's time to write some new material for the night and edit the one poem I have already written.
I shall try to figure out how to record my performance on the 2nd of May with my phone to put up on @threespeak and share with the hive community.
Wish me luck.
Thanks for reading 🌿
