The media is a great source of information, unlike before, when there was no access to the internet or television, and all that was available was the newspaper, where the information was limited.
Advantages of media
In this century, we get to know what's going on around us through the media, either the internet (social media platforms) or television stations. We now have easy access to the happenings around us. Listening to and watching news of different kinds is now at our fingertips.
In terms of giving news either on crypto or local news, the media is doing a great job; it is the number one news feed in most countries in the world. You can easily type on your mobile phone and get ideas or some truth about whatever it is you want to know.
Another good thing about the media is that it provides, to some extent, the details of the news you might want to watch or listen to. To some extent, it means not all you might want to know, but it will give you quite good ideas of what you need.
Disadvantages of the media
As good as the media is, it also has its disadvantages, and I can say that the disadvantages have an impact on human lives. Some of the news projected in the media is not true. Some are being broadcast just to get the attention of the public, while others are being broadcast to give the broadcasters the fame they desperately need.
It takes a wise choice of information not to be a victim of fake news. There is some news I read that I just discard because it's not true, but you will see such news being broadcast on different media outlets just to make money and cause confusion in people's minds.
When going through the news in the media, I picked the ones that were needed for me and discarded others that I felt weren't real enough.
Recently, local news has been flying around all social media outlets about a Nigerian gospel singer who posted her son on the internet, and people are making different comments about the child.
Some said her son resembled another gospel artist who is a male, which means there is a possibility that the female singer cheated on her husband with the male singer. This controversy has been going on for a while now, and two concerned parties have been suing different bloggers in court on the issue.
The media portrayed this news as being real, whereas the masses didn't know the real story behind it. Many would believe this news because the media said so, while some would choose not to believe it. Anyway, it's an individual choice to make.
Crypto news in the media is educational, but some might be a means of fraud, so one must be extra careful about the news being followed in the media. I was once defrauded due to the news I followed in the media, and since then I have known better.
