Last year we saw No Hard Feelings prove that modern audiences are hungry for raunchy comedies, a genre that many of us thought had been forgotten at the beginning of the millennium.

It is not for nothing, with a billboard where it seems that intellectual properties and recognizable sequels have taken precedence over fun premises, I am glad that a space is progressively emerging for this type of films to be profitable, although unfortunately not all of them are worthy (apparently) of a traditional theatrical release.
The latter is the case of Ricky Stanicky, an exclusive Amazon Prime comedy that premiered a couple of days ago that, although it is nothing out of this world, perfectly captures the essence of these vulgar comedies that we used to appreciate so much, starting from . by a solid cast with stars like Zac Efron or John Cena, which, by the way, has just cleared up all my doubts regarding his own abilities to participate in comedies.
Its plot is quite simple, when they were young a group of boys (Starring Zac Efron, Jermaine Fowler and Andrew Santino) decide to invent an imaginary friend with the intention of using him as an excuse to escape the consequences of all their pranks...
As the years go by, they decide to keep up the lie, to the point of using it to escape their adult responsibilities. However, things seem to get more and more complicated, reaching the point where they have to hire a mediocre Atlantic impersonator. . City (Played by John Cena) in order for him to pretend to be his imaginary friend: Ricky Stanicky.
Although in structural terms the story is quite predictable, the key to a film like Ricky Stanicky lies in its ability to spin a series of funny gags that stand on the shoulders of its endearing protagonists, mixed with a couple of surprisingly emotional moments.
The quality of its script is quite inconsistent, and there are a couple of plot points that conveniently disappear so that the film can flow properly, still, it is an enjoyable (but forgettable) experience that deserves our attention.

El año pasado vimos que No Hard Feelings demostró que las audiencias modernas tienen hambre por raunchy comedies, un género que muchos creíamos olvidados a principios del milenio.
No es para poco, con una cartelera en dónde pareciera que las propiedades intelectuales y las secuelas reconocibles han tomado prevalencia por encima de las premisas divertidas, me alegra que progresivamente surge un espacio para que este tipo de filmes sean rentables, aunque lastimosamente no todas sean dignas (aparentemente) de un lanzamiento teatral tradicional.
Esto último es el caso de Ricky Stanicky, una comedia exclusiva de Amazon Prime que se estrenó hace un par de dias que, si bien no resulta nada del otro mundo, captura a la perfección la esencia de estas comedias vulgares que tanto soliamos apreciar, partiendo por un solido cast con estrellas como Zac Efron o John Cena, que por cierto, acaba de despejar todas mis dudas respecto a sus propias capacidades para participar en comedias.
Su trama es bastante simple, cuando eran jóvenes un grupo de chicos (Protagonizado por Zac Efron, Jermaine Fowler y Andrew Santino) deciden inventar un amigo imaginario con la intención de usarlo como escusa para escaparse de las consecuencias de todas sus travesuras...
Con el pasar de los años deciden mantener la mentira, a tal punto de utilizarlo para escapar de sus responsabilidades adultas, no obstante, las cosas parecen complicarse cada vez más y más, llegando al punto en el que deben contratar a un mediocre imitador de Atlantic City (Interpretado por John Cena) con la finalidad de que finja ser su amigo imaginario: Ricky Stanicky.
Aunque en términos estructurales la historia es bastante predecible, la clave de un film como Ricky Stanicky radica en su capacidad para hilar una serie de gags divertidos que se sostienen en los hombros de sus entrañables protagonistas, mezclado con un par de momentos sorpresivamente emocionales.
La calidad de su guión es bastante inconsistente, y existen un par de plot points que desaparecen convenientemente para que el passing de la película pueda fluir apropiadamente, aún así, resulta una experiencia agradable (pero olvidable) que merece nuestra atención.
