I know this is like the third time I've taken the trouble to talk about this movie, but it surprises me how every review of End of Evangelion (The movie that served as an alternative conclusion to the acclaimed anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion) continues to make me feel so many things. .
As I have mentioned on several occasions, I would be lying if I told you that I perfectly understand the complex universe created by Hideaki Anno in the mid-90s, a universe that used the traditional mecha formula and deconstructed it, thus forming a story that speaks to us. of loneliness, hopelessness and the power of love.
But what makes End of Evangelion such a powerful piece within this story? Simple: its rawness and its ability to make it clear that the events that are unfolding before our eyes are not as important as the mental state in which each of its protagonists finds themselves.
Shinji Ikari is a distortion of everything that the traditional protagonist of the hero's journey represents, he is an imperfect and incapable young man who is forced by circumstances to carry out a task he hates, but unlike what we usually observe in the stories of this guy: he usually ends up being crushed by his fears, and his tendency to flee usually leaves irreversible damage.
Although it is easy to adhere to the narrative determined to detest this child (something very typical in all corners of the internet) the truth is that End of Evangelion leaves a large number of reasons to empathize with him, starting with the trends. of everyone around him to take advantage of his vulnerabilities and manipulate him.
However, this does not turn the secondary characters in the story into villains, on the contrary, each one has their own traumas and internal struggles (Beyond the panic that comes with dealing with the imminent end of the world).
End of Evangelion is at its core a story about demotivation, the crushing idea that willpower is not always enough, and while this may sound extremely pessimistic, there is a bitter relief in embracing our own reality.

Sé que está es como la tercera vez que me tomo la molestia de hablar de esta película, pero me sorprende como cada revisionado de End of Evangelion (La película que sirvió como conclusión alternativa al aclamado animé: Neon Génesis Evangelion) sigue haciéndome sentir tantas cosas.
Cómo he mencionado en diversas ocasiones, mentiría si les digo que entiendo a la perfección el complejo universo creado por Hideaki Anno a mediados de los 90s, un universo que utilizó la formula de los mechas tradicionales y la deconstruyó, formando así una historia que nos habla de la soledad, la desesperanza y el poder del amor.
Pero, ¿Qué es lo que hace que End of Evangelion sea una pieza tan potente dentro de esta historia? Simple: su crudeza y su capacidad de dejar claro que los eventos que se están desplegando ante nuestros ojos no son tan importantes como el estado mental en el que se encuentra cada uno de sus protagonistas.
Shinji Ikari es una distorsión a todo lo que representa el protagonista tradicional del viaje del héroe, es un joven imperfecto e incapaz que se ve forzado por las circunstancias a realizar una tarea que detesta, pero a diferencia de lo que solemos observar en las historias de este tipo: generalmente termina siendo aplastado por sus miedos, y su tendencia a huir suele dejar daños irreversibles.
Aunque es fácil adherirse a la narrativa empeñada en detestar a este niño (Algo muy típico en todos los rincones del internet) la verdad es que End of Evangelion deja regado por todos lados una gran cantidad de razones para empatizar con el, empezando por las tendencias de todos los que le rodean para aprovecharse de sus vulnerabilidades y manipularlo.
No obstante, esto no convierte a los personajes secundarios de la historia en villanos, todo lo contrario, cada uno cuenta con sus propios traumas y luchas internas (Más allá del pánico que implica lidiar con el inminente fin del mundo).
End of Evangelion es en esencia una historia sobre la desmotivación, la idea aplastante de que la fuerza de voluntad no siempre es suficiente, y, aunque esto pueda sonar extremadamente pesimista, hay un alivio amargo en abrazar nuestra propia realidad.
