Ruleset Specific Cards - Forgotten One
Rulesets are added to Splinterlands to prevent a card from being strong in all situations, and instead favor cards with specific skill sets and stats in certain situations. This ends up generating a set of cards that end up being “forgotten” in the most “common” matches and become a precise choice in these more specific situations.
One example is what happens with the Noxious Flames Ruleset, in which the units start the battle with the poison debuff, causing all cards to lose 2 HP per turn. There is a set of cards that are so specific. Because it is a very punitive rule, the cards that manage to “survive” it end up having a great advantage, which is the case of cards with the Immunity ability, which do not receive this debuff from the beginning.
One of those cards with Immunity that ends up shining in this ruleset and ends up being forgotten on other occasions is the Forgotten One. It's funny because the name of the card itself suggests that it ended up being forgotten and is chosen when it specifically can make a difference. When the opponent doesn't pay attention to the rules and you choose the Forgotten One, he will suffer 2 damage to all units while the Forgotten with his 4 melee damage and retaliate will survive and start eliminating the opponents one by one.
Another detail about these more specific cards is that even though they guarantee victory in certain scenarios, since they are not “wildcard” cards, they end up having a lower value than the others. In the case of Forgotten One, even though it is a strong card for the Noxious Flames ruleset and in rules that favor melee cards, it is not in great demand and is currently being sold for around $0.12 per BCx and in relation to sales volume, less than 20 cards are sold per day, excluding “abnormal” days.
Remembered vs. Forgotten Gladiators Cards
In addition to cards that work very well in certain rulesets but end up being forgotten in other games, the phenomenon of “forgotten cards” affects the entire Gladiators Set collection. We recently mentioned that until recently, gladiator cards were restricted to use in guild Brawls, but with the addition of Chaos Legion Summoners with the Conscript ability and the “Are You Not Entertained?” Ruleset, these cards began to be used in other types of battles, especially in Ranked Battles.
However, even with this utility expansion, players end up not using all the Gladiator cards, always focusing on the “strongest” cards and forgetting the simpler cards. I believe this ended up happening because all the cards do not have an ability like the Forgotten One with Immunity that ends up shining in a situation, they are mostly cards that have the same structure, high DPS, Bloodlust and average HP and Speed.
This situation means that in the Common rarity Gladius cards, Katrelba Gobson and Isgald Vorst are basically used, which are two cards that have different and very strong abilities. In the case of Katrelba Gobson, in addition to having the entire “standard” Gladiator set, she has Sneak and Double Strike, making it easier for her to activate Bloodstrike. The same happens with Isgald Vorst, who has Sneak, making him focus on opponents who are already close to death.
In the case of rare cards, we can see the use of Captain Katie, who is a mage with 3 damage and the difference of having Snipe. Thus, we can see that cards that have some different mechanic that makes it easier to eliminate opponents end up being the chosen ones, while the others remain in the background. This shows that rather than never being used, it would be better if the other gladious cards had received abilities that made them strong in specific rulesets.

Cartas para Ruleset Específicas - Forgotten One
As rulesets são adicionadas ao Splinterlands, com o objetivo de evitar que uma carta seja forte em todas as ocasiões, favorecendo assim cartas com conjuntos de habilidade e status específicos em determinadas situações. Isso acaba gerando um conjunto de cartas que acabam sendo “esquecidas” nas partidas mais “comuns” e virando uma escolha precisa nessas situações mais específicas.
Um exemplo é o que acontece com a Ruleset Noxious Flames, em que as unidades começam a batalha com o debuff de poison, fazendo com que todas as cartas percam 2 de HP por turno. Existe um conjunto de cartas que de tão específicas. Por ser uma regra muito punitiva, as cartas que conseguem “sobreviver” a ela acabam tendo muita vantagem, que é o caso de cartas com a habilidade Immunity, que desde o início não recebem esse debuff.
Umas dessas cartas com Immunity que acaba brilhando nessa ruleset e acaba sendo esqueci nas demais ocasiões é o Forgotten One. É engraçado porque o próprio nome da carta sugere que ele acabou sendo esquecido e é escolhido quando ele em específico pode fazer a diferença. Quando o oponente não se atenta para as regras e você escolhe o Forgotten One, ele vai sofrer 2 de dano em todas as unidade enquanto o Forgotten com seus 4 de dano melee e retalitate vão sobreviver e começar a eliminar os oponentes um por um.
Um outro detalhe dessas cartas mais específicas é que por mais que elas garantam vitória em certos cenário, como não são cartas “coringa” acabam tendo um valor abaixo das demais. No caso do Forgotten One, mesmo sendo uma carta forte para a ruleset Noxious Flames e em regras que favorecem cartas melee, ela não tem uma grande procura e atualmente está sendo vendida próximo de $0,12 por BCx e em relação à volume de venda são vendidas menos de 20 cartas por dia, tirando os dias “anormais”.
Cartas Gladiators Lembradas x Esquecidas
Além de cartas que funcionam muito bem em certas rulesets, mas que acabam sendo esquecidas nas demais partidas, o fenômeno de “esquecimento de cartas” afetam a coleção inteira do Gladiators Set. Comentamos recentemente que até pouco tempo atrás as cartas gladiadoras eram restritas à serem usadas nos Brawls das guilds, mas com a adição de Summoners do Chaos Legion com a habilidade Conscript e a Ruleset “Are You Not Entertained?” essas cartas começaram a poder ser usadas em outros tipos de batalha, principalmente nas Ranked Battles.
Entretanto, mesmo tendo essa expansão de utilidade, os jogadores acabam não usando todas as cartas Gladiators, ficando sempre nas cartas “mais fortes” e esquecendo as cartas mais simples. Acredito que isso acabou acontecendo por todas as cartas não terem uma habilidade igual ao Forgotten One com Immunity que acaba brilhando em uma situação, eles são na maior parte cartas que tem uma mesma estrutura, alto DPS, Bloodlust e um HP e Speed medianos.
Essa situação faz com que nas cartas de raridade Comum do Gladius sejam usadas basciamente a Katrelba Gobson e o Isgald Vorst, que são duas cartas que tem habilidades diferentes e muito fortes. No Caso da Katrelba Gobson ela além de ter todo o conjunto “padrão” Gladiator tem Sneak e Double Strike, fazendo com que ela consiga ativa o Bloodstrike mais facilmente. O mesmo ocorre com Isgald Vorst que tem o Sneak fazendo ele focar nos oponentes que já estão mais perto de morrer.
Já no caso das cartas raras é observado a utilização da Captain Katie, que é uma maga com 3 de dano com o diferencial de ter o Snipe. Assim, percebe-se que as cartas que tem alguma mecânica diferente que facilite a eliminação de adversários acabam sendo as escolhidas, enquanto as demais ficam como segundo plano. Isso mostra que melhor do que não ser utilizada nunca, seria melhor se as demais cartas gladious tivessem recebido habilidade que as deixassem fortes em ruleset específcas.
