🤔 Game Status - Wild Pass & Stake Increase 🤔
Battles | After the addition of the Wild Pass as a requirement to play Wild and the increase in the number of SPS in Stake to maintain the Boost, the number of battles being played in the Splinterlands Card Game decreased greatly, dropping from a peak of almost 500,000 battles per day for an almost constant average of 75k battles.
This means that the number of battles being played by Players/Bots in Splinterlands has reduced by more than 5x after a single update. I also agree that players and staff need to look for solutions so that the game is sustainable for the long term, but are drastic changes necessary?
Wouldn't it have been better to perhaps implement the increased SPS requirement in Stake or the Wild Pass one at a time and see how that would affect the game and then add the other if necessary? I believe that in seeking to reduce the number of bots in the game, the team is “unintentionally” hitting the players. Imagine that you don't have time to play Modern and you have a good amount of SPS, overnight, now you need to have twice as much to get the same gain. Is this the best?
Wild | As the vast majority of matches were in Wild Format, we can conclude that accounts that were in Wild did not purchase the Wild Pass and this caused a real decrease in the number of total battles. In Wild the reduction went from something close to 400000 to a constant now of 40k, a gigantic 10x reduction in the number of battles.
The reason this happened IMO is that the profit they had per season was no longer large because it discounted card rentals and SPS and with the arrival of the Wild Pass, only those who already had possession of these assets and were able to earn close to the Pass Value.
Modern | An extremely positive point for the NFT game Splinterlands is that with these changes the number of battles in Modern increased from 15k to close to 25k, in other words, there are 10k more battles in Modern every day. This shows that some of the players who left Wild migrated to Modern, which is what the team hopes as their focus has been on Modern, with increased Glint, better Staked SPS Boost, Bots to help players palyers to increase more, greater rewards since there are fewer players to distribute the Pool.
💰 Reward POOL 💰
One of the possible positive changes could be in the Rewards Pool issue. With fewer users playing Wild, as it is a separate pool for each format, it would theoretically mean that more SPS rewards would be distributed to players. Furthermore, over time, “weak” accounts that use low level cards would end up losing their rating each season and as fewer accounts would be playing, it would be more difficult to move up a league, meaning that over time accounts that have good decks manage to stay at a high level and weak accounts start to fall.
What I believe players hope for is that this possible increase in the Rewards Pool is enough to at least pay for the Wild Pass, because that way they would continue earning the same as before and would end up eliminating the “weaker” accounts from the game. , leaving only those Players who are really looking for evolution within Splinterlands in the Wild.
🚨 Problems of Change 🚨
The big problem is that without the possibility of making a profit in the game, I believe that these various “weak” accounts will have the only option to sell their assets and we can clearly see this happening in the price of the tokens. DEC is far from its PEG, SPS is now already below $0.01. All this because when you make changes without leaving an “exit door”, the only option is mass selling.
In addition, the Splinterlands asset that suffers most from changes in battles are cards, because unlike the DEC and SPS that you use in DeFi options to profit, cards can only be used in battles or if the person has lands, but as the reduction was in the number of battles, I believe they do not have this second option.
I think it's very complicated to share this data, but the collection that most players have is the Chaos Legion, as it is the most accessible and we can see how much it has been affected. The value of the Diamond level collection went from close to $1800 to $662, that's a 3x reduction in value. Now imagine, with the not very good scenario, proposals that affect the usefulness of the cards, players end up losing a lot in the SPS Stake, because the token has dropped a lot and also in the cards. What many end up hoping for is that an altseason will come and solve all these problems, but the best thing would be to think about how to adapt.

Isso significa que o número de batalhas sendo jogadas por Jogadores/Bots no Splinterlands reduziu em mais de 5x depois de uma única atualização. Eu também concordo que os jogadores e a equipe precisam procurar soluções para que o jogo seja sustentável para o longo prazo, mas será que mudanças drásticas são necessárias?
Será que não teria sido melhor talvez implementar o aumento no requisito de SPS em Stake ou o Wild Pass, um por vez e ver como isso afetaria o jogo para depois fazer a adição do outro se fosse necessário? Acredito que na busca de diminuir os bots do jogo, o time esteja “sem querer” acertando os jogadores. Imagina que você não tem tempo para jogar no Modern e tem uma quantidade boa de SPS, do dia para a noite, agora você precisa ter o dobro para ter o mesmo ganho. Será que isso é o melhor?
Wild | Como a grande maioria das partidas eram no Wild Format, podemos concluir que as contas que estavam no Wild não compraram o Wild Pass e isso causou uma verdadeira diminuição no número de batalhas totais. No Wild a redução foi de algo próximo de 400000 para uma constância agora de 40k, uma gigantesca redução de 10x no número de batalhas.
O motivo para que isso tenha acontecido IMO é que o lucro que elas tinham por season já não era grande porque descontava o aluguel de cartas e SPS e com a chegada do Wild Pass, só ficou quem já tinha posse desses ativos e conseguia ganhar próximo do Valor do Passe.
Modern | Um ponto extremamente positivo para o jogo nft Splinterlands é que com essas mudanças o número de batalhas no Modern aumentaram de 15k para próximo de 25k, ou seja, está tendo 10k de batalhas a mais no modern todos os dias. Isso mostra que os jogadores parte dos jogadores que saíram do Wild migrou para o Modern, o que é o que o time espera já que o foco deles tem sido no Modern, com aumento de Glint, melhor Boost de Staked SPS, Bots para ajudar os palyers a subir mais, recompensas maiores já que tem um quantidade menor de jogadores para distribuir a Pool.

Uma das possíveis mudanças positivas poderia ser na questão da Pool de Recompensas. Com menos usuários jogando no Wild, por ser uma pool separada para cada formato, teoricamente significaria que mais recompensas em SPS seriam distribuídas para os jogadores. Ainda, com o tempo as contas “fracas” que usa cartas de nível baixo, acabariam perdendo o rating a cada season e como menos contas estariam jogando, seria mais difícil de subir de liga, fazendo com que com o passar do tempo contas que tenham bons decks consigam se manter no alto nível e contas fracas comecem a cair.
O que eu acredito que os jogadores esperem é que esse possível aumento na Pool de Recompensas seja suficiente para ao menos pagar o Wild Pass, porque assim eles continuariam ganhando o mesmo que antes e acabaria eliminando do jogo as contas “mais fracas”, deixando no Wild apenas os Jogadores que realmente estão na busca da evolução dentro do Splinterlands.
🚨 Problemas da Mudança 🚨
O grande problema é que sem a possibilidade de lucrar no jogo, acredito que essas diversas contas “fracas” vão ter como única opção vender os seus ativos e isso a gente pode ver claramente acontecendo no preço dos tokens. O DEC está longe do seu PEG, o SPS agora já está abaixo de $0,01. Tudo isso porque quando você faz mudanças sem deixar uma “porta de saída”, a única opção é a venda em massa.
Além disso, o ativo do Splinterlands que mais sofre com as alterações nas batalhas são as cartas, porque diferentemente do DEC e do SPS que você usar em opções de DeFi para lucrar, as cartas só podem ser usadas nas batalhas ou se a pessoa tiver em lands, mas como a redução foi no número de batalhas, então acredito que elas não tenham essa segunda opção.
Eu acho que é muito complicado compartilhar esse dado, mas a coleção que a maioria dos jogadores tem é a Chaos Legion, por ser a mais acessível e podemos ver o quanto ela foi afetada.
