Happy day #jewerly friends how fast Friday came!!! I hope you had a super productive week. For me today is a very special day because my oldest son is turning thirteen and I really can't believe how fast time has passed!
But obviously that's not what I'm here to talk about today, as I'll be telling that story in #motherhood. Instead, what I want to share with you are two items that come to complement the bracelete that I brought you last week.
It's a choker and some earrings that came to accompany a cute bracelet I made to wear the night of December 24 and in the middle of creating it, the idea came up to make a choker and while I was at it, why not make myself some matching earrings and that's how I ended up with three garments instead of one!
For these two pieces,of course I had to use the same materials as the bracelet plus the same design. So the idea was to make a set.
So I used two types of chains, white beads, golden balls of different sizes and wire. You already know that I use one that comes trimmed and with one end already prepared, which makes my work a little easier.
The first thing to do is to lay out all the necessary materials and tools on a blanket.
As with the bracelet we will work with a combined choker. In this case one half would be composed of a chain of links and the other would be a mixture of another chain with interspersed pearls, being joined in the center with a golden ball like the one used in the bracelet.
For the elaboration of the balin that we will use to divide the two sides of the choker we will introduce to the wire, a cap, the balin, the other cap and we will close in both ends. For more details you can go here
Attach the ball to the link chain and the first half is ready. Simple, isn't it?
For the other half we will use the other chain and pearls. We will cut several sections of chain and join them with a pearl that we prepare just like the balin, but in this case we will need two pearls.
Next we join the two pearls together and these at one end to the chain and at the other to a smaller ball than the one we used at the beginning.
We continue with a portion of chain of the same size as the previous one and two beads. This time we will not use the balin. I thought it was fun not to follow the same pattern since it is a choker with two different halves, so why not keep making the difference?
I finished the choker by attaching another piece of chain completing the length of the half I made at the beginning.
Now I only had to place the clasps to close it, so at one end I placed a ring and at the other end as I had run out of clasps with a little creativity and using the pieces of wire I could make one and I attached it to the other end of the chain.
To do it, I took a piece of wire and with the help of a height stick I made a curve, bent the tip with the pliers and my improvised brooch was ready. If you don't have any height sticks you can use a pencil or even your finger!
For the earrings I used the same technique I used for the clasp we saw above, but in this case I used my finger since I needed it to be a little more open.
Once the bases were ready I decided to make two different earrings! Yes, yes, I get a little crazy, but it's part of the creative process so in one of the earrings I used only a large pearl and a ball. The pearl was attached to the base and the ball was inserted to the base as you can see in the pictures.
For the other tendril I decided to use the two types of chain in different sizes. The link one once again stood alone and the other one I incorporated a pearl at the end and that way my pair of earrings was ready, the perfect combination for the bracelet and the choker.
As you can see it really is a very simple but very nice work, everything is in the design and the materials we use to make our garments and of course let our imagination fly and let us go with our instincts.

Cuando se trata de accesorios parece que nunca es suficiente y si lo hacemos nosotros mismos todo se sale un poco de control y lo que inicia con un brazalete termina en un juego de gargantilla y aretes!
Feliz día amigos de #jewerly que rápido llegó el viernes!! Espero hayan tenido una semana súper productiva. Para mi hoy es un día muy especial porque mi hijo mayor está cumpliendo trece años y la verdad no puedo creer lo rápido que ha pasado el tiempo!
Pero obviamente no es de ésto que vengo a hablarles hoy, ya que esa historia la estaré contando en #motherhood. En su lugar, lo que quiero compartirles son dos prendas que vienen a complementar el brazalete que les traje la semana pasada.
Se trata de una gargantilla y unos zarcillos que vinieron a acompañar un lindo brazalete que hice para usar la noche del 24 de Diciembre y que en medio de su creación surgió la idea de hacer una gargantilla y ya que estaba en eso, por qué no hacerme unos zarcillos que hicieran juego y fue así como terminé con tres prendas en lugar de una!
Para éstas dos piezas,por supuesto debía usar los mismos materiales del brazalete además del mismo diseño. Pues la idea era hacer un conjunto.
Así que utilicé dos tipos de cadenas, perlas blancas, balines dorados de diferentes tamaños y alambre. Ya saben que uso uno que viene recortado y con un extremo ya preparado, cosa que me facilita un poco más el trabajo.
Lo primero que haremos, es disponer todos los materiales y herramienta necesarias sobre una manta.
Al igual que con el brazalete trabajaremos con una gargantilla combinada. En éste caso una mitad estaría compuesta por una cadena de eslabones y la otra sería una mezcla de otra cadena con perlas intercaladas, estando unidas en el centro con un balin dorado igual al que usamos en el brazalete.
Para la elaboración del balin que utilizaremos para dividir los dos lados de la gargantilla introduciremos al alambre, una tapita, el balin, la otra tapita y cerraremos en ambas puntas. Para mayor detalle pueden ir aquí
Unimos el balin a la cadena de eslabones y estaría lista la primera mitad. Sencillo verdad?
Para la otra mitad usaremos la otra cadena y las perlas. Cortaremos varias secciones de cadena y las uniremos con una perla que preparemos al igual que el balin, pero en éste caso necesitaremos dos perlas.
Seguidamente unimos las dos perlas entre sí y estas en un extremo a la cadena y en el otro a un balin más pequeño que el que utilizamos al inicio.
Continuamos con una porción de cadena de igual tamaño que el anterior y dos perlas. En ésta oportunidad no utilizaremos el balin. Me pareció divertido no seguir el mismo patrón ya que de por sí es una gargantilla con dos mitades diferentes, así que por qué no seguir marcando la diferencia?
Finalicé la gargantilla uniendo otra pieza de cadena completando así el largo de la mitad que hice al inicio.
Ahora sólo me quedaba colocar los broches para cerrar, por lo que en un extremo coloqué una argolla y para el otro como ya se me habían acabado los broches con un poquito de creatividad y dando uso a las piezas de alambre pude hacer uno y lo fijé al otro extremo de la cadena.
Para hacerlo, tomé una pieza de alambre y con ayuda de un palito de altura hice una curva, doblé la punta con la pinza y estaba listo mi broche improvisado. Si no tienen palitos de alturas pueden utilizar un lápiz e incluso su dedo! Como ven sólo hace falta usar nuestra creatividad para solucionar cualquier imprevisto!
Para los aretes utilicé la misma técnica que emplee para el cerrador que vimos arriba, pero en éste caso utilicé mi dedo ya que necesitaba que quedara un poco más abierto.
Una vez estuvieron listas las bases se me ocurrió hacer dos zarcillos diferentes! Si, si, me vuelvo un poco loca, pero es parte del proceso creativo así que en uno de los aretes utilicé sólo una perla grande y un balin. La perla la uni a la base y el balin lo introduje a la base como pueden ver en las imágenes.
Para el otro zarcillo decidí utilizar los dos tipos de cadena en diferentes medidas. La de eslabones una vez más estuvo sola y a la otra le incorporé una perla al final y de esa manera estuvo listo mi par de aretes, la combinación perfecta para el brazalete y la gargantilla.
Como ven realmente es un trabajo bastante sencillo pero muy bonito, todo está en el diseño y en los materiales que utilicemos para elaborar nuestras prendas y por supuesto dejar volar la imaginación y dejarnos llevar por nuestros instintos.
