Hi guys,
Growing up success to me meant making or having a lot of money to cater for your wants. Can you blame me? From infancy we are taught that all you need in this life is a job to be able to take care of your family or your future needs.
I’ve never been one to see money as evil no matter how bad some people try to portray money. Infact I love money very much and to me having money is only a percentage of success. As we grow we get to realize that even the rich have normal problems that we all face in our daily lives. Even the rich go through depression. Even the rich face situations which their money can’t solve. Even the rich sometimes wish things didn’t happen the way they did. Even the rich sometimes feel cheated by God.
It’s normal as we are humans and it’s in our nature.
One thing which I’ve come to realise is that in this world all the success I need is contentment. In a world where it looks like we are all competing to be the best, all we need is to be content with what we have. Now don’t get me wrong, being content with what you have doesn’t mean you don’t want more or you’re not striving for more. It’s just that with contentment you’re not jealous of what the next person has. With contentment you see life from a different point of view and it’s beautiful.
Now for me, my idea of contentment is being comfortable in the place I am right now even though I’d want more and more but in the process of wanting more I wouldn’t try to push someone else down or talk bad about someone cause am not happy with where they are at the moment.
Comparison is the stealer of joy and that’s very true. The moment we start to compare then we don’t appreciate where we have reached or what we have achieved and at times it’s even sad.
Which is why I never subscribe to the idea of comparing twins. Yes they are twins but it doesn’t mean they are meant to behave the same way. I’ve been at the receiving end of the bad thing which I honestly don’t care about but I don’t subscribe to the idea when my twin is being said bad about trying to make me looks like the good one. It can be true at times but comparison doesn’t and has never lead to anything good.
Elon has a lot of money and is regarded as the world richest, but Elon being the worlds richest doesn’t mean Aliko Dangote of Nigerian is poor, he’s also rich and Mehn honestly there are way too little things which Elon can do that he can’t go.
So to me my idea of being successful starts with being content. If you’re content then you are successful.
