At an altitude of about 3300-3500 m above sea level, just a couple of dozen kilometers from the border with China, there is one of the wonderful, still little-visited places in Kyrgyzstan. People come here to one of the most famous high-mountain lakes in Kyrgyzstan - Lake Köl-Suu (or you can often find the spelling Kel-Suu).
This edge of water of a wonderful turquoise color in the photo is one of the shores of this elongated lake. But more about the lake another time, and today I want to share views of its surroundings — namely, the valley of the Kel-Suu River, flowing out of the lake.
The sun sometimes wanders through the valley, leaving bright spots on the green slopes and meadows, and sometimes the clouds completely cover the sun. It is very green there in the summer because of the large amount of water: this lake, river, countless streams.
Such views, it seems to me, are just worth taking from the air, with a drone, taking wide, panoramic photos - to understand the scale of the place as a whole. Although the details, of course, are important and beautiful.
These streams of water flowing out of the lake and flowing down from the surrounding mountains — they are collectively called, by analogy with the lake: the Kel-Suu River. Although it turns out to be a very short and not very wide river — literally after 5 km it flows into the Kok-Kiya River — it is visible in the upper part of this photo, almost at the very horizon in the center and on the right.
These photos were taken at the end of June this year. A very favorable time of year, the water level in the lake after the spring melting of snow has already risen, its color has become a beautiful turquoise, and in the valley itself everything is green - it's summer.
And for comparison — this is how the same place looked a month earlier last year, at the end of May (from a different angle). Then there was still snow in places: not only in the mountains, but also in the valley itself, and it was clear that there was still not enough warmth for the greenery.
It's always nice for me when I get to visit a beautiful place in different seasons, to see how it changes during the natural cycle. One of my wishes is to get there in winter, but it's much more difficult than in summer :)
