Hello Friends,
Good day to you. I hope the day is going well for you and it's going well for me too.
I work in an organisation that has more than 20k employees in India. My company has got various offices across the country and they also have a global presence. You can say it's a big company which is true and think that working with the reputed company is good.
Many people are working in my team so it creates a situation of peer pressure. It can be good or bad depending upon how you take it. I think it is good because this gives us a push to take out our best. I work with a team that has over 100 people working on the same project. It's a big team working for the same client and my profile changed last year. I am part of the operation team but now I take care of digital automation and this is a new role for me. Some people are already working in the same role and they have more expertise than me.
I moved into the new role and it was challenging for me but I felt peer pressure there that I had to perform at no matter what. It was a situation when either I could perform and he stayed in the team or I would have to go out so I decided not to go out and perform. It took a few months for me to learn and understand and now I am one of the top performers in the team. It was the month of August when I joined the new role and within three months I was able to grasp everything I could. I got a compliment from my supervisor that I am one of the top-performing team members in this domain. I was very happy to get this feedback from my supervisor and this has happened because I felt peer pressure and in my case it worked well.
Some people can take it negatively because not everyone can think the same. I think this should not be taken as negative because if you take it as a positive note you can work on it to improve yourself and later you'll be thankful that this peer pressure helped you to perform even better. Sometimes we are in a zone where we feel comfortable but a change is required for us to prove ourselves and grow. We can't grow in the comfort zone so a trigger is required and when you do something new then this prior pressure can push us to perform better and learn more. At least in my case, it worked so I'm happy that this is something that made me do a great job and I take it as a positive.
Conclusion
We are humans and sometimes we don't know how to react especially when we feel something is not making us feel good but I believe that is the time when we need to think positively. Change is never comfortable and in the beginning, you need to deal with many challenges. It is the period that is not going to be very long but that should be dealt with properly. I did the same and three months was very hard for me. Every day I worked for more than 12 hours and also worked over the weekend but the outcome was very good and happy with whatever I did to achieve it.
