Ecological park The Silence of the Heron.
Sometimes it's difficult to find a good place to jog, walk, or simply de-stress. I have a habit of meditating; however, it's a practice I enjoy doing outdoors. Unfortunately, there aren't many good spots in my region, so I have to drive several hours on the road to find one that's at least worthwhile.
That's how I found an ecological park called "El silencio de la garza" (The Silence of the Heron). The name surprised me a lot, and by the way, I inquired with the locals about its meaning. I learned that the name comes from the migration of the herons that once lived in this park, founded in 1991, to preserve them in their habitat.
Now, without those white flyers, the natural and green spaces serve for recreational activities and various ecological initiatives. The park is located west of Monagas, in Venezuela, and although the herons are gone, the place has become a bird sanctuary.
This park can be a good option if you visit eastern Venezuela, and wish to go jogging, meditating, walking, picnicking, or camping, or simply listen to the birds. The spaces are clean; due to many years having passed since its foundation, some renovation and cleaning work is being carried out. Once there, you will feel the harmony of nature.
Except for the sounds of birds, the place is quite silent. It is far from the city, so traffic sounds are irrelevant. At least for me, this aspect is simply wonderful.

The pathways contrast from the moment you enter the park; some are deteriorated by the ravages of time. The truth is that you can walk and choose the space you like best for your activities. Due to the dense heat that usually occurs in this area, it's better to visit during the morning or at sunset if you wish to jog or do any sports activity. I noticed that people generally walk and take photographs.
You do not need to pay to enter the park, but they do give some suggestions which include: not littering, not carrying firearms, avoiding smoking or drinking alcohol, and avoiding using devices that generate a lot of noise, such as loudspeakers.

I took advantage of the visit to meditate a little. Although there are open areas exposed to the sun, I preferred the more wooded area. There are gazebos nearby where you can enjoy the view or even share a good meal with your friends. This park has what it takes to provide comfort to its visitors. Security is good; this is one of the elements that always concerns me, and, nevertheless, the place is well guarded by the authorities and the local ecological organization. The park is near a university campus, so, on occasion, it is common to see students with initiatives for the care of the green areas.
For a public park, I admit that people take great care of it, something that is sometimes difficult to see. At least for now, the place is quite clean.

I always go between 7:00 and 8:30 AM, to find the place a little more solitary and to be able to meditate with more tranquility. Sometimes, there are many visitors, but there is a lot of respect and cordiality regarding respecting others' activities, especially concerning not making annoying noises. On weekends there is much more activity, especially camping and recreation. I usually visit on weekdays, before going to the gym, and I have felt very comfortable. The best part is that there are no street vendors; it is forbidden to sell things inside the facilities.
There is an area for calisthenics exercises. This time the machines were empty, but guess what? I don't know how to do calisthenics (😅). What I did notice is that these machines, despite maintenance, deteriorate very quickly. I live in an area with a lot of rain, so I imagine it must be difficult to keep them optimal.

My final appreciation
Before, I didn't use to go to ecological parks because I considered them boring and simple, but I've learned that one should not judge without knowing first. "The Silence of the Heron" is a welcoming park, full of good green areas and a wonderful tranquility. Furthermore, it is well-maintained and the people who usually visit it are respectful and do not break the rules that exist for the preservation of the place.
Disconnecting from urban noises is quite pleasant when you do it in a harmonious and peaceful place, with the sole company of trees, birds, and, if you are more into group experiences, with your friends.
Hopefully, at some point, the herons will return...

A veces es difícil encontrar un buen lugar para trotar, caminar o simplemente desestresarte. Tengo el hábito de meditar, sin embargo, es una costumbre que me gusta realizar al aire libre. Lamentablemente, no hay sitios buenos en mi región, por lo que debo viajar en carretera algunas horas para refugiarme en uno que al menos valga la pena.
Fue así que encontré un parque ecológico llamado "El silencio de la garza". Me sorprendió mucho el nombre, y por cierto, indagué con los lugareños sobre su significado. Supe que la derivación de aquel nombre proviene de la migración de las garzas que alguna vez hacían vida en este parque, fundado en 1991, para preservarlas en su habitad.
Ahora, sin esas voladoras blancas, los espacios naturales y verdes sirven para las actividades recreativas y diversas iniciativas ecológicas. El parque se encuentra ubicado al oeste de Monagas, en Venezuela, y aunque las garzas ya se fueron, el lugar se ha convertido en un santuario de aves.
Aspectos Turísticos
Este parque puede ser una buena opción si visitas el oriente de Venezuela, y deseas salir a o trotar, meditar, caminar, hacer pícnics o acampar, o simplemente escuchar las aves. Los espacios están limpios; debido a que han pasado muchos años desde su fundación, se están realizando algunos trabajos de remodelación y limpieza. Una vez allí sentirás la armonía de la naturaleza.
A excepción de los ruidos silvestres, el lugar es bastante silencioso. Está alejado de la ciudad, por lo que los sonidos del tráfico son irrelevantes. Al menos para mí, este aspecto es simplemente maravilloso.
Las caminerías se contrastan desde que ingresas al parque; algunas están deterioradas por el golpe del tiempo. Lo cierto es que puedes caminar y elegir el espacio que más te guste para hacer tus actividades. Por el denso calor que suele hacer en esta zona, es mejor visitarlo durante la mañana o en la puesta del sol si se desea trotar o hacer alguna actividad deportiva. Me di cuenta de que las personas generalmente caminan y toman fotografías.
No necesitas pagar para ingresar al parque, pero si te dan algunas sugerencias que incluyen: no votar basura, no portar armas de fuego, evitar fumar o beber alcohol, y evitar usar dispositivos que generen mucho ruido, como cornetas.
Aproveché la visita para meditar un poco. Aunque hay zonas abiertas al sol, preferí el área más boscosa. Hay cenadores cerca en los que puedes disfrutar de la vista o hasta compartir una buena comida con tus amigos. Este parque tiene lo necesario para brindar comodidad a sus visitantes. La seguridad es buena; este es uno de los elementos que siempre me preocupan, y, sin embargo, el lugar está bien custodiado por las autoridades y la organización ecológica local. El parque está cerca de un campus universitario, por lo que, en ocasiones, es habitual ver a estudiantes con iniciativas para el cuidado de las áreas verdes.
Para ser un parque público, admito que las personas lo cuidan mucho, algo que en ocasiones es difícil de ver. Al menos por ahora, el lugar está bastante limpio.
Siempre voy entre las 7:00 y las 8: 30 am, para hallar el lugar un poco más solitario y poder meditar con más tranquilidad. A veces, hay muchos visitantes, pero hay mucho respeto y cordialidad en cuanto a respetar la actividad que hace otros, sobre todo en el aspecto de no hacer ruidos molestos. Los fines de semana hay mucha más actividad, más aún de camping y recreación. Yo suelo visitarlo los días de semana, antes de ir al gym, y la me he sentido muy a gusto. Lo mejor es que no hay vendedores ambulantes; está prohibido vender cosas dentro de las instalaciones.
Hay un área para ejercicios de calistenia. Esta vez las máquinas estaban solas, pero ¿a qué no adivinas? Yo no sé hacer calistenia (😅). Lo que sí noté es que estas máquinas, a pesar de los mantenimientos, se deterioran muy rápido. Vivo en una zona de muchas lluvias, por lo que imagino que ha de ser difícil mantenerlas óptimas.
Mi apreciación final
Antes no solía ir a parques ecológicos porque los consideraba aburridos y simples, pero he aprendido que no se debe juzgar sin conocer primero. El "Silencio de la Garza" es parque acogedor, repleto de buenas áreas verdes y una tranquilidad maravillosa. Además, está bien cuidado y las personas que suelen visitarlo son respetuosas y no incumplen con las reglas que existen para la preservación del lugar.
Desconectarse de los ruidos urbanos es bastante agradable cuando lo haces en un lugar armónico y pacífico, con la sola compañía de los árboles, las aves y, si eres más de las experiencias grupales, con tus amigos.
Ojalá que, en algún momento, las garzas regresen...
