Hello everyone, welcome to another post of mine about splinterlands. This time I will talk about the life deck and what strategy I use to balance attack and defense in my battles with this deck.
I'm currently playing wild league because the rewards are higher in SPS and also because it gives me the freedom to choose any splinterlands card to use in my battles. When it comes time to use the life deck my main doubt is which summoner I should choose, usually I try to use the Tyrus Paladium since in my opinion having a shield in battles makes a big difference, but I also think that choosing a summoner just to give you +1 shield isn't that advantageous as I can pick General Sloan which gives +1 ranged attack and will also be of great help.
I decided that the best option for the summoner in my battles (not all, because there are better summoners in the life deck but sometimes the rent or mana cost is too high so I try to use more "simple" summoners in the battles) would be the summoner General Sloan to increase the ranged attack of my cards since when I use the life deck, I usually use a lot of ranged cards.
But focusing on the attack is not always a good strategy and for me not to lose the shield that Tyrus Paladium granted to my cards I choose a monster card that is very useful that will grant +2 shield, its name is Truth of Defender and this card will certainly not be missing in my battles with the life deck.
The image above gives you an overview of the Truth of Defender card, it is a "simple" spell card with a low mana cost that will protect your other cards with the ability Protect.
Enable Level 3 (Protect)
The Protect ability will grant +2 shield to all your cards while Truth of Defender is on the battlefield, if it is defeated then all your cards will lose their shield gained.
What is the use of the shield?
The shield serves as a defense against melee and ranged attacks, whenever a card with this type of attack attacks another card with a shield, the shield will block the attack and the card will not suffer any damage in life.
Cards with magic attack ignore the shield and attack the health of the cards directly, but there is an exception that the ability Void Armor that makes cards with magic attack attack the shield.
Cards with a shield will only take health damage after the shield is broken.
There's no doubt that the shield can be the big difference between a victory and a defeat, so I always like to have cards with the ability Protect or summoners that grant the shield, but now that I have Truth of Defender on the battlefield I I can use General Sloan without any worries.
BATTLE
To better understand how the combination works I will demonstrate it in a battle, General Sloan will increase the attack of my ranged cards and Defender of Truth will increase the defense of all my cards with his shield.

In the Fog of War rule, monsters lose Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity abilities. In this rule using cards with magic and ranged attack are the best options, it is also another reason to use General Sloan and also have Defender of Truth in battle since the shield will be very useful.
The battle started and I was finally able to see which cards my opponent used and just as I imagined, Truth of Defender's defense will be of great help since most of my opponent's cards are ranged and he only has 2 cards with a magic attack that he doesn't have. they have a lot of attack, so this is a great scenario for my strategy.
Everything happened as I had predicted, my attack was powerful and my defense was firm, but despite General Sloan and Truth of Defender being the main highlight for the battle, all my cards played important roles, I had a good tank card and even even a card with the ability Heal, so I managed to achieve a great balance between attack and defense that after a few turns gave me a big win.
