Hope I am not too late to bring up this news, but actually the news is all over the internet.
Many people woke up on Monday 25 April with the flashing news of change of ownership at #Twitter. After a week long tug of war between Elon musk and Twitter, the deal finally closed at a staggering $44 Billion. The deal is now paraded everywhere as a step towards #freespeech.
Elon Musk who called himself a free speech absolutist once stated :
"Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,"
However, if we look deeply we might end up bugging more than that. What seems to be a week long tussle was actually been running since month. He rejected the board of director membership even owning the maximum shareholding in Twitter.
Good Deal for Twitter
As of now it could be a good deal as far as the Twitter is concerned. Since it's launch in 2013 Twitter has so far reported an annual profit only twice, in 2018 and 2019. This shows the company inability to pull users to avail its services and at same time unable to ask advertisers to spend their money adequately. As per a study, Twitter users only spend 10 mib a day which is far less in comparison to what users spends at Facebook (33 min) and even at Tik-Tok (48 min).
Considering all this it might prove to be a bad deal for Elon. But the richest person and owner of 3 most valued company there might be something more insight. Now as he is the owner he might bring in more changes. He is a great social Influencer and his every words has the ability to make things upside down. We have seen how his words maneuver #dogecoin. Now Elon might be looking to to bring reforms on Twitter which is more or less political centric along with celebrities and journalists.
Changes that might happen.
Elon musk always consider Twitter the micro blogging platform with enormous potential. Though it has very limited reach, now with onset of new governance we might end up watching many changes. Few which I could guess are:
- Removing or Blocking the spam accounts.
- Bringing about "edit" option on your tweet.
- Of course the content moderation. He has been advocating for free spread so we could see no censor ship.
- We might end up seeing Twitter a complete open source platform.
- On a wild guess I just wish we could see tweet Monetization through #dogecoin.
a social Influencer could do wonders with their action and choice of words.
On Tuesday, we have seen many funny tweets, meme over other social media and different blogs on this calculated takeover. All of them were interesting and informative. We can expect anything from new Twitter ceo. The micro blogging platform could be a major things in everyone life. It is matter of time when we see how things changes with this new transformation. But for now this news is everywhere and even Twitter is flooding with many. The fun just begin.
