ChäoS;HEAd, hereafter "C;H", is a visual novel created by Chiyomaru Shikura and initially released for pc in 2008, this novel of the psychological genre, sci-fi and gore would give the starting shot to a franchise certainly unique in terms of history.
Plot
Strange deaths occur in Shibuya, Tokyo; from 5 people who threw themselves together from a high building, to a man who had a fetus inserted in the womb, these certainly disturbing homicides that have all of Shibuya talking about it are called “New Generation”.
Nishijou Takumi is a 17-year-old with hikikomori tendencies, who meets the scene of a crime when he returns from the institute, from that moment he will begin to experience strange events, in case it wasn't enough with his self-induced delusions, since as far as is known, he has never had a totally stable mental health.

Takumi will find that there are people capable of materializing their delusions to alter reality, called "Gigalomaniacs", and he will meet several girls capable of doing this. Each time he will be more immersed in this whole issue, and he will have no choice but to face it, the problem is that he don't know exactly where reality and imagination are separated.
The story has a certain police tone, we will see crime scenes, and we will also find several plot-twists, yes, at the beginning it can be a bit slow, but as soon as the plot gets interesting it does not let you loose until you finish it, so you are warned.
Gameplay
We are talking about a traditional visual novel, where all we have to do is read tons of text, but despite this we can interact in different ways with the novel.

At certain times, Takumi will have delusions, these can be positive or negative, we can choose which one we want to occur, or directly not generate any; In these cases, two cardiac cycles will appear on the screen, one green and the other red, one triggers the positive delusion, and the other the negative, if we do not want any to occur we should just ignore them until they disappear.
It must be taken into account again that we are dealing with a relatively extensive visual novel, we will need approximately 30 hours if we want to finish it completely, so I hope that you will be good readers if you are interested in reading it.
C;H has several endings, to see all we must choose certain delusions at certain times, for this it is highly recommended to use some guide, for the last end it is necessary to replay the novel from the beginning, but you can skip the text that we have already read, so it will not be necessary to read everything again.
We can find the novel in both Spanish and English thanks to fan translations, although its official release has only been in Japanese.
Soundtrack
The soundtrack perfectly fulfills its function, creating an atmosphere according to the place and context of the moment, it will relax us in the moments of calm, and it will put us very tense in the high points of the story.
In general, the SciAdv have their main artist who composes the songs dedicated to the intro of each novel: Kanako Itou. The theme for the C; H intro is called Find the Blue, and it's just spectacular:

An improved version of C;H, with more endings, more story, and a greater presence of global SciAdv antagonists, unfortunately only officially available in Japanese, although fan-translated English is in the works, and last year was finished the Spanish translation available on pc, so if anyone knows Spanish and are interested in entering the SciAdv, C;H NOAH is your best option.

At a general level C;H is a great visual novel, however, we could say that in general aspects it is inferior to the rest of the franchise novels, this while still being good; there are moments in particular that are so well accomplished that without the need for jumpscares or cheap terror they will leave you goose bumps, even without focusing on terror.
Apart from the visual novel, C;H has an adaptation to manga, and another to anime, but I'm not going to lie to you, anime is of a very dubious quality, apart from compressing all those hours of text into 12 chapters of less than 30 minutes is a process in which a lot of details that are surely important are lost.
Again, I openly recommend that you take the time to give this novel a chance, if you are one of the people who frequent visual novels and have yet to get to know the SciAdv.

I'll give you a little advice if you plan to play C;H: Don't be fooled by the first impression, never judge a book by its cover, it happened to me, and then I couldn't do anything but regret it.
The next novel in the timeline is Steins; Gate, which I'll be talking about in a later post.

Historia
Muertes extrañas ocurren en Shibuya, Tokyo; desde 5 personas que se lanzaron juntas desde un alto edificio, hasta un hombre al cual le introdujeron un feto en el vientre, se les engloba como “New Generation” a estos ciertamente perturbadores homicidios que tienen a toda Shibuya hablando de ello.
Nishijou Takumi es un joven de 17 años con tendencias hikikomori, el cual se encuentra con la escena de un crimen cuando regresa del instituto, desde ese momento empezará a experimentar sucesos extraños, por si ya no fuera suficiente con sus delirios autoinducidos, ya que hasta donde se sabe, él nunca ha tenido una salud mental totalmente estable.

Takumi se encontrará con que existen personas capaces de materializar sus delirios para alterar la realidad, y conocerá a varias chicas capaces de hacer esto. Cada vez se verá más inmerso en todo este asunto, y no le quedará de otra que enfrentarlo, el problema radica en que no se sabe exactamente dónde se separa la realidad de la imaginación.
La historia tiene cierto tono policíaco, veremos escenas del crimen, y nos encontraremos también con varios giros de guion, eso sí, al inicio puede resultar un tanto lenta, pero apenas la trama se pone interesante no te suelta hasta que la terminas, por lo que quedan advertidos.
Gameplay
Hablamos de una novela visual tradicional, donde lo único que debemos hacer es leer toneladas de texto, pero a pesar de esto podemos interactuar de diferentes formas con la novela.

En determinados momentos, Takumi tendrá delirios, estos pueden ser positivos o negativos, nosotros podemos escoger cual queremos que ocurra, o directamente no generar ninguno; en estos casos aparecerán dos ciclos cardíacos en la pantalla, uno verde y otro rojo, uno desencadena el delirio positivo, y el otro el negativo, si no queremos que ocurra ninguno solo debemos ignorarlos hasta que desaparezcan.
Hay que tener en cuenta nuevamente que estamos ante una novela visual relativamente extensa, necesitaremos aproximadamente unas 30 horas si queremos terminarla completamente, así que espero que sean buenos lectores si están interesados en leerla.
C;H cuenta con varios finales, para ver todos deberemos elegir determinados delirios en determinados momentos, para esto es muy recomendable utilizar alguna guía, para el último final es necesario volver a jugar la novela desde el principio, pero se puede saltar el texto que ya hayamos leído, por lo que no será necesario leer todo de nuevo.
Podemos encontrar la novela tanto en español como en inglés gracias a traducciones de fans, aunque su lanzamiento oficial solo ha sido en japonés.
Soundtrack
El soundtrack cumple perfectamente su función, creando un ambiente acorde al lugar y contexto del momento, nos relajará en los momentos de calma, y nos pondrá muy tensos en los puntos altos de la historia.
En general las SciAdv tienen a su artista principal quien compone las canciones dedicadas a la intro de cada novela: Kanako Itou. El tema de la intro de C;H se llama Find the Blue, y es simplemente espectacular:

Una versión mejorada de C;H, con más finales, más historia, y una mayor presencia de los antagonistas globales de las SciAdv, lamentablemente solo disponible oficialmente en japonés, aunque traducciones al inglés por fans se encuentran en proceso, y el año pasado fue terminada la traducción al español disponible en pc, así que si alguno sabe español y les interesa introducirse en las SciAdv, C;H NOAH es su mejor opción.

A nivel general C;H es una gran novela visual, sin embargo, podríamos decir que en aspectos generales es inferior al resto de novelas de la franquicia, esto sin dejar de ser buena; hay momentos en concreto que están tan bien logrados que sin la necesidad de jumpscares o terror barato te dejarán la piel de gallina, aún sin centrarse en el terror.
Aparte de la novela visual, C;H tiene una adaptación a manga, y otra a anime, pero no les voy a mentir, el anime es de una calidad muy dudosa, aparte que comprimir todas esas horas de texto en 12 capítulos de menos de 30 minutos es un proceso en el cual se pierde mucha historia y detalles que seguramente sean importantes.
Nuevamente les recomiendo abiertamente tomarse el tiempo de darle una oportunidad a esta novela, si es que son de las personas que frecuentan las novelas visuales y aún no han llegado a conocer las SciAdv.

Les daré un pequeño consejo si piensan jugar C;H: No se dejen engañar por la primera impresión, nunca juzguen a un libro por su portada, me pasó, y luego no pude hacer más que arrepentirme.
