Hello to all sewing lovers! I've been away from sewing for a while, but not because I want to. I am currently a resident and the place I occupy is quite small, so much so that it would not be an exaggeration to say that I cannot have my sewing machine, ha ha, and because its noise could make the rest of the tenants uncomfortable. That leaves me only with the possibility of using the sewing machine when I go home... although I admit that sometimes, time is not even enough to oil it 😅 Still, I'm happy to show you a simple blouse that I made a couple of years ago days ago and that has become one of my sister's favorite clothes.

One of my motivations to do this project was not only to use my machine and put sewing into practice, but one day my sister @maisugar told me something that made me think, she said: "How sad, I'm a fan from The Simpsons and I don't have anything from the series..." and she's right, she's a super fan to the point of knowing entire chapters by heart and having in her plans getting some tattoos with iconic scenes. So it occurred to me to give her a gift. My idea was to get her several items with the theme of the series and put together a kind of surprise box, but due to personal situations, my idea was going to take a little longer to be achieved, so I preferred to give her what I had in store in advance to make her a little happy. , since she is going through several things that have her discouraged. Luckily, I got a really nice Simpsons print fabric from the biggest fabric store in town and when I went home, my sister was very happy to know that I would sew whatever she wanted with it. I know the method of making patterns, but for a long time I have used the tactic of using personal garments as a pattern, so through a blouse that my sister likes, I took out the pieces with their respective sewing increases.

To start, I sewed the front and back pieces together at the shoulders. Since I don't have an overlock, I made a zig zag seam for the edges. Once both pieces were joined, I proceeded to sew both sleeves in the armhole area.

Once I verified that the sleeves were sewn correctly, I sewed the hem trying to make it the same length as the sample blouse. For greater security, I double-stitched.

The next thing was to close the blouse on both sides. In general, since I usually leave enough seam increase, I always have to do a second seam after the model tries it on. Luckily, though, my sister mentioned that she was perfect with the first seam, so I didn't have a problem with my leftover increase. I then verified that the length of the blouse was as desired and I made the hem in the same way as with the sleeves.

Once this was done, I moved on to the neck. This could be said to be the step where I had to work the most because my sister wanted it to be more relaxed than the one with the sample blouse, since she doesn't like her necks to be so high. In that case, I cut the neckline of the new blouse flush with the test one, so that when I folded the edges in, it would gather up enough to be a fuller neckline. After that, I already had the blouse ready.

I was very happy that my sister liked the blouse in its entirety, putting it on to go out the next day. She is very fussy about clothes, to the point that if she doesn't like how it feels to put it on, she won't wear it anymore, so it was a relief when, coming back from the street, she mentioned that the blouse was cool. and that he wished he would do more of that kind.

I have been sewing for years, although I do it independently and although I worked for more than a year in a sewing workshop, what I made were more than anything, pieces that only required the use of straight stitching, so I only developed speed in sewing, but I admit that I need to polish my sewing a lot and I tend to be somewhat clumsy with pieces that require neatness. Those things don't worry me when it comes to making clothes for myself, but that's another matter when it comes to making things for others... not to mention that I still get confused when it comes to knowing which needle or tension is best for me. certain fabrics... Mine is mostly trial and error ha ha but it was fun to sew something again after so long and not have to unstitch. That was worthy of applause! ha ha

I only have to encourage those who are new to sewing and who don't dare to sew their clothes because they think they are not capable. Using our own patterned clothes and even sewing by hand, you can do anything (I met a guy who made super complicated dresses completely by hand!), the important thing is to have the desire and take the risk to do it. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out the way you want the first time, over time, you'll see how you'll improve. I used to be afraid of the sewing machine and then without realizing it I got to a point where when I used it, I felt like I was riding a motorcycle ha ha that confidence is obtained when we persevere in a task, so I trust that the time will come when I can improve in everything I need in this beautiful world of sewing. ¡Hola a todos los amantes de la costura! Desde hace un tiempo he estado apartada de la costura, pero no porque quiera. Actualmente estoy residenciada y el lugar que ocupo es bastante pequeño, tanto que no sería exagerado decir que no puedo tener mi máquina de coser ja ja eso y porque el ruido de la misma, podría incomodar al resto de los inquilinos. Eso me deja sólo con la posibilidad de usar la máquina de coser cuando voy a casa... aunque admito que en ocasiones, el tiempo no me alcanza ni para aceitarla 😅 Aún así, me alegra poder mostrarles una blusa sencilla que hice hace un par de días atrás y que se ha convertido, en una de las prendas favoritas de mi hermana.

Una de mis motivaciones para hacer éste proyecto, no sólo fue el de usar mi máquina y poner en práctica la costura, sino que un día mi hermana @maisugar me comentó algo que me dejó pensativa, ella dijo: "Que triste, soy fans de Los Simpsons y no tengo nada de la serie..." y tiene razón, ella es súper fanática hasta el punto de saberse capítulos enteros de memoria y tener en sus planes, hacerse unos tatuajes con escenas icónicas. Así que se me ocurrió hacerle un regalo. Mi idea era conseguirle varios artículos con temática de la serie y armarle una especie de caja sorpresa, pero debido a situaciones personales, mi idea iba a extenderse un poco para ser lograda, así que preferí darle adelantado lo que tenía guardado para hacerla un poco feliz, ya que está pasando por varias cosas que la tienen desanimada. Por suerte, conseguí una tela muy bonita con estampado de Los Simpson en la tienda de telas más grande de la ciudad y cuando fui a mi casa, mi hermana se alegró mucho al saber que le cosería lo que quisiera con ella. Conozco el método de realizar patrones, pero desde hace tiempo uso la táctica de usar prendas personales a modo de patrón, por lo que a través de una blusa que a mi hermana le gusta, saqué las piezas con sus respectivos aumentos de costura.

Para empezar, cosí la pieza delantera y la trasera en la parte de los hombros. Como no tengo overlock, realicé una costura zig zag para los bordes. Una vez que ambas piezas estuvieron unidas, procedí a coser ambas mangas en la zona de la sisa.

Una vez verificado que las mangas estuvieran cosidas correctamente, cosí el ruedo procurando que quedase del mismo largo que la blusa de muestra. Para mayor seguridad, realicé doble costura.

Lo siguiente fue cerrar la blusa en ambos costados. Por lo general, como suelo dejar suficiente aumento de costura, siempre me toca hacer una segunda costura luego de que la modelo se la pruebe. Aunque por suerte, mi hermana me mencionó que estaba perfecta con la primera costura, así que no tuve problema con mi aumento sobrante. Verifiqué entonces que el largo de la blusa fuese el deseado e hice el ruedo del mismo modo que con las mangas.

Una vez hecho esto, pasé al cuello. Éste podría decirse que era el paso en el que tenía que dedicarme más porque mi hermana quería que fuera más desahogado que el de la blusa de muestra, dado que a ella no le gustan que los cuellos queden tan altos. En ese caso, corté el cuello de la blusa nueva al ras de la de prueba, de modo que al hacer el doblez de los bordes, se recogiera lo suficiente para ser un cuello más amplio. Después de eso, ya tenía la blusa lista.

Me alegré mucho de que mi hermana le gustara la blusa en su totalidad, poniéndosela para salir al día siguiente. Ella es muy quisquillosa con la ropa, hasta el punto de que si algo no le gusta como se siente al ponérselo, no lo usará más, por lo que fue un alivio cuando, al regresar de la calle, me mencionó que la blusa era fresca y que deseaba que le hiciera más de ese tipo.

Tengo años cosiendo, aunque lo hago de forma independiente y aunque trabajé durante más de un año en un taller de costura, lo que realizaba eran más que nada, piezas que sólo exigían el uso de la costura recta, por lo que sólo desarrollé velocidad en la costura, pero admito que me falta mucho pulir mi costura y suelo ser algo torpe con piezas que requieran pulcritud. Esas cosas no me preocupan cuando se trata de realizar ropa para mí, pero ya es otro tema cuando es para realizar cosas para los demás... sin mencionar que aún me hago un lío cuando se trata de saber qué aguja o tensión es mejor para ciertas telas... Lo mío es ensayo y error en su mayoría ja ja pero fue divertido volver a coser algo después de tanto tiempo y no tener que descoser ¡Eso si fue digno de aplausos! ja ja

No me queda más que animar a aquellos que son nuevos en la costura y que no se animan a coserse su ropa porque piensan que no son capaces. Usando nuestra propia ropa de patrón y hasta cosiendo a mano, se puede hacer lo que sea (¡Conocí a un chico que se hacía vestidos súper complicados completamente a mano!), lo importante es tener el deseo y arriesgarse a hacerlo. No se desanimen si no les sale cómo quisieran a la primera, con el tiempo, ya verán como irán mejorando. Yo antes le tenía miedo a la máquina de coser y luego, sin darme cuenta, llegué a un punto en que cuando la usaba, me sentía como si estuviera usando una motocicleta ja ja esa confianza se obtiene cuando somos perseverantes en una tarea, por lo que confío en que llegará el momento en que podré mejorar en todo lo que me haga falta en éste hermoso mundo de la costura. Tengo muchos proyectos en mente, poco a poco iré subiendo lo que pueda realizar ¡Deséenme suerte!
