The thing with technology and all things digitalization is that it keeps changing and advancing rapidly. While I consider it an amazing thing, I hate to have to explain to people(young people of newer generations) about every single thing from my childhood days that they didn't get to see/experience, which they consider terrible by the way. I had my own time of doing this, too. Smh!
So, my digital time capsule should comprise everything I hope to not explain by word of mouth to younger generations. It's all for them to catch a glimpse of what life and technology was like in older times, just the way I make comparisons to technological innovations during the younger days of my parents.
My capsule would contain my social media pages. Very importantly. I don't do so much on social media, but I am present, sharing posts that I have opinions on or the ones I feel like. I also would make sure that trending issues, topics and debates that happened on the media stay put so that fifty years from now, they could see what we were caught up talking about and check for themselves if topics are still similar or they've moved well past those.
In addition, news -political, entertainment, sports, educational, all would be contained there. As well as significant events that have occurred through the time, like with epidemics, elections, and lots more. I'm far more concerned about letting them into the media apps we have now, how they functioned and what they were characterized by/what we did there, cause, these trending apps and platforms may no longer be in use by then.
I believe that the idea of a digital time capsule is so that future generations can catch a glimpse of time past and see/imagine and tell for themselves what life was like before them and appreciate how far innovations have gone. Fifty years from now, that's the digital aspect of my life/time that I'd be glad to showcase.
Thanks for stopping by.
