I'd also like to join Ladies of Hive Community Contest this week. The questions are so interesting and it's great to share some of my stories with the community.
Question: Do you have a favorite family member? If yes, who is it, and what makes your relationship special?
It's easy to answer this question, because the moment someone asks me this, I'd automatically say "my parents". However, let's leave the obvious answer for now. I want to share two of my favorite people. They're my cousins Nicole and Godwyn.
Nicole (@adamsale) was born when I was in the 6th grade of elementary school. She's my mom's younger sister's daughter. When my aunt was pregnant with her, my mom and I were very excited. I've always wanted to have a sibling, but it would be dangerous for my mom to get pregnant again due to her health situation... I grew up with a lot of cousins, but given the age gap between me and Nicole, I just wanted to take care of her and be the big sister I've always wanted to be.
She has always been present during the special milestones I had in life. She was still a baby, but she was there when I graduated from elementary. When my family moved to the countryside, they also visited and even stayed for quite a while. (Her grandparents lived in the same municipality).
When we moved back to the city, she always visited our house... she'd even stop me and my friends from doing our project, so we could play with her. My friends adored her and they love her even now.
During my university days, she was also present... I remember when I celebrated my capping (an important part of nursing school), she skipped school for the first time just so she could celebrate with me.
Now, she's already in her 20s, but she'll always be my baby sister... I'm so proud of the person she has become and am so excited to witness her future endeavors!
Another favorite person of mine is Godwyn. He's my mom's youngest sister's son. I was already a university student when he was born and he's just so adorable! When he was young, he used to stay with us at home and I enjoyed taking care of him. He even used to call me mama back then.
Godwyn and I are so alike in multiple ways. I think I influenced him somehow. We're both into art, anime, and gaming. We also share similar tastes in music among other things. More than a cousin, I consider him my baby brother... even my son.
He loves coming over to our place even now, whether there's an occasion or not.
He's now a teenager and is now much taller than me. I'm glad that even though he's busy at school and other stuff, he still visits us and enjoys spending time with us. I like how open he is. He excitedly tells me stories and updates about his life and so on.
These two lovely humans are truly among my favorites in this world. I may not have my own siblings, but these two are more than that. They're one of the best things that has ever come to my life. My life is truly better because of them and I'm forever grateful for that!
We may live our own busy lives at the moment, but we are always ready to have each others' backs. After all, we're just one message or call away! ^^ And oh, we all love playing mobile games and watching movies (especially horror films) together. So, it's been a tradition for us to do these things whenever we get together.
I love them so much and I'll do my best to help them with whatever I can. I'm sure, they feel the same way. I'm so proud of what both of them have become and I look forward to spending more time with them in the future. (^^,)/
