It's hard to believe the year is already half over. Doesn't it feel like it's speeding up every day? I know I've mentioned it before, but as a child time seemed to go by so slowly. As an adult the years just seem to fly on by. I guess the moral of the story is to enjoy life while it lasts because it sure is short!
For those of you in Canada, Happy Canada Day! It's nice to have a three day weekend. Here the 4th of July falls on a Thursday, so no long weekend for most of us here in the US.
It is Hive Power Up Day today, and I powered up the minimum. There are a couple reasons for this, first I tend to power up randomly throughout the month. Secondly I just helped launch a new token, I'll share more about that in a minute. I'm still shooting for 5K HP by year's end, and I'm trying to do organically. This way I can encourage onboarding because if I can pull it off, I think anyone can.
For the last couple of months I have partnered up with @bitcoinman and @bulliontools to create a new token for the Hive Onboarding Committee (HOC). As a group we are trying to encourage onboarding into the Hive ecosystem which is not an easy feat as many of you already know. We've seen many new people give up as they became frustrated by the lack of support. This was the genesis of our new token, DUO.
What Does DUO Do?
First and foremost DUO's curation account provides quality curation to new Hive members and to DUO stake holders that have 200 or more DUO staked. By purchasing and staking DUO you not only reward yourself, but you help to onboard and retain new members to grow the Hive ecosystem. Our goal is to encourage new members to grow their account and succeed. As they succeed they will spread the word to their friends and family, because there is no better salesman than a personal success story.
Dividends
As a stakeholder your benefits don't end with curation. During the first month all HBD and tokens paid will be converted to Hive Power. Thereafter, as posts pay out 90% of all HP, HBD, and Hive Engine will be sold and paid out in the form of daily Hive dividends to those who own staked DUO tokens according to the amount they have staked. The other 10% goes toward Hive Power so that the DUO curation account will grow slowly over time offering better curation votes. But you reap the majority of the benefits!
Tipping
Who doesn't love tipping tokens? So one more benefit of DUO that will soon be available is the ability to tip posts with quality content. Tipping levels are determined by the amount of DUO you have staked according to the breakdown below:
500 staked tips 0.1 (1x/day)
1k staked tips 0.2 (1x/day)
5k staked tips 0.3 (1x/day)
10k staked tips 0.5 (2x/day)

How to Buy DUO?
