Lack of inspiration is a very real problem for bloggers like us. You know you must write, but you don't have anything lined up, no time to brainstorm new ideas and it feels like you need a break. What was that? Why were you unable to write anything for your daily blog?
Writer's block can be such a painful situation for a writer who wishes to keep on blogging on a frequent basis. It is similar to an illness which will not give you a choice but to work as expected. You were looking forward to blog writing, and now you find yourself without having any idea what to write.
If that is you, do not worry. Even famous bloggers experience writer's block. It is an issue all bloggers experience. As an experienced blogger, I am going to discuss some of the methods I used when my writing juice just does not want to flow.
Blog About It
When you sit in front of your computer screen and can't manage to string two sentences together, just turn the situation around and blog about the challenge instead. Write about the challenge and what you plan to do to overcome it. I have been there too - Standing there in a daze in front of the screen unable to type a single word.
This can continue for hours without a solution. To save time and energy, it is suggested that you write about what you are going through. By all means, you are producing some writing, and also learning more about writer's block as a topic.
There are days when I do not feel efficient and fail because of not being able to achieve my daily tasks. It may be due to tiredness and other aspects of life. By that time, I tend to overlook writing that day and start scrolling social media for something that might grab my attention.
And one day an idea stayed with me, "why not write about it?" I realized that this is exactly what I have been lacking. It might seem strange to write on the topic of why you are stuck with writer's block, but trust me: it is alchemy. Writing on the situation can get you back on track again, and might even change your perception towards the subject.
Create an Outline for The Topic You Have at hand
In a case where you lack a clue on where and how to start writing a blog post, spending time thinking of the best way to start can be against you. The best action at this point is to move forward by outlining the subject or jotting down the points you would like to discuss in the post.
This is similar to making a recoveryp plan. Dividing the steps into chunks will motivate you to start writing. You do not necessarily have the whole idea of the subject yet, but you have something good in hand. Piece by piece, writing one outline at a time you'll see how your blog post will fall into place.
You don't have to hurry through to finish the whole blog post. Keep it simple and write brief paragraphs. As long as you have laid out the steps that you are going to address for the post, it will be simpler to proceed once you feel inspired.
Switch Off the Outside World
When inspiration to write dries up, an attempt to drive forward becomes futile. In such a situation, it's wise to stop and recharge your mental energy. This entails cutting off all distractions such as phone alerts notifications, turning off music, putting aside everything else and take some fresh air.
Multitasking is one of the reasons writer’s block happens. However, shutting down everything aside from the current task boosts our productivity and helps us get back our writing mojo flowing smoothly.
Somewhere along the way when we are at our most creative, we do not know when depression gets the better of us. This could be when you have just completed a huge task like writing an awesome post that goes viral. You feel awesome at this stage and gradually complacency sets in. If that is something you can relate to, take a step back now, log out of the outside world. Switch off your phone notifications and go for a refreshing walk or pick up a story book to read.
Forget all the distracts that are weeping for your attention, turn off the world and get some fresh air into your lungs. Set an appointment for only 5 minutes and savor the gratitude for the time that you have at hand now. Go make yourself a cup of coffee or better sandwich. Go for some small exercise, whatever that will inspire you do it.
Make Use of White Noise
Writing is a process that a handful of us engage in recreationally. There's, however, an undocumented technique that would be utilized to get the job done faster whenever the process seems to be encumbered by itself, and more enjoyably, to boot. Such a trick is what has come to be known as 'White Noise '.
White noise is a system that helps in causing stable mental condition where stress is elevated. The system also helps in anxiety alleviation and diversion, and help people to keep their concentration and solve the problem in question. This system was designed by an American psychologist named Alexander Toth to help people to solve distraction and stay concentrated.
White noise can also be a constant background noise that has rhythmic chirping. The chirping could be a soothing music tone that makes you feel like home or your childhood days that can make you feel good.
