Let me try to break down the rest of what went down on Raw this week, and allow me to share with you my thoughts on some highlights.
First of all, let's talk about CM Punk versus Drew McIntyre.
I thought things couldn't get any more intense between the two, and then Drew took it to a whole other level. Punk was all ready to move on and pursue that World Heavyweight title, but Drew would hear nothing of it. The manner in which he came at Punk, sticking that bracelet down his throat?
Brutal man, but hot damn, this has got me eager for what's next.
I'm calling it right now: these two need to be locked in a steel cage.
The bad blood is off the charts, and a regular match just won't cut it. I wonder how long they're gonna keep Punk off TV and what kind of punishment Adam Pearce will dish out to Drew.
Whatever it is, I'm here for it.
Now, of course, let's discuss that Intercontinental championship picture.
Honestly, I'm happy they pulled Dirty Dom out of that triple threat. Not to say I love to hate the dude, but he has enough on his plate with Liv and all that Terror Twins drama. Also, it just opened up the door for that killer match between Ilja Dragunov and Dragon Lee.
Ilja coming out on top? Chef's kiss.
Can't we just take a minute to appreciate the promo skills of Sami Zayn?
The way he called out GUNTHER was dope. And GUNTHER's promo in response? Perfection. So good how they mentioned there that Sami's defeat of GUNTHER was the only one. It is that kind of continuity that can make wrestling storytelling so good if pulled off right.
And Bron Breakker-damn, this guy is ablaze.
The back-and-forth with Jey Uso was entertaining as hell: Bron's intensity was through the roof, and I'm not sure if Jey really matched that level of intensity, but that did set up an intriguing dynamic.
And last but not least, hats off to Braun Strowman for fighting through those broken ribs to earn his Fatal 4 Way spot. That dude's a monster, and I'm hyped to see what he does in that match.
All in all, this Raw felt very much like it was building into something big. The storylines are heating up, the rivalries are heating up, and I'm loving every minute of it. With Bad Blood just around the corner, I am excited at what's finally going to be pieced together.
How about you guys?
Who's your pick for the Fatal 4 Way next week?
I'm torn, but I get this feeling Ilja might just pull off the upset win.
Keep those TV remotes handy for the next time, and let that passion for wrestling keep burning!
