It's here! Hive Power Up Day for January 1st, 2024

 
 

Firstly, Happy New Year, everyone! 🎉🥂✨🎇

Nextly (yes, I was being silly, but that's actually a word), I'm still in the process of getting caught up with the past few months of HivePUD prize distribution but planning to get it done soon. Things went a bit extra sideways in early November when my husband hurt his shoulder at work - he's been home ever since, and his surgery is now scheduled for the second week of January. I'd say hopefully things will get back to normal not too long after that, but I'm not even sure I know what normal is anymore. 😂

Also a quick shout out - starting this month, the delegation prizes for the top three spots are slightly different. I heard from @eddiespino a couple weeks back that the @aliento account is sadly, but understandably, unable to continue doing the delegations. But rather than removing them completely, I've instead increased the amount I delegate to the first three spots, so the amount will stay the same. And as I said to Eddie a short time ago in a much belated reply to his message (because yes, I'm behind on everything still!), thank you for the support given to Hive Power Up Day for all these years - it's greatly appreciated!

As for the business at hand - while it's still not midnight in my neck of the woods (I'm posting this just before midnight EST), #HivePUD for January 1st 2024 has already arrived in other parts of the world. HivePUD TL;DR

• If you want to qualify for the AMAZING Hive Power Up Day badge(s), your power up must happen during the 24 hours of January 1st 2024 according to UTC time.

and/or

• If you want to qualify for the #HivePUD prize pool, your power up and post must happen (according to criteria listed below) during the hours of January 1st 2024, your local time.

In October 2022, because of the continuing (and awesome) uptick in participation, I tweaked the timeline of the Power Up Day results to give me a couple extra days to put things together after my numbers guy sends me the raw data.

What is HivePUD?

Hive Power Up Day happens on the first of every month. Those who are able to, take this time to power up some Hive, and/or cancel their power downs and pause trading/selling for the 24 hour span of the day.

What are the rules to win prizes for HivePUD?

UPDATED As of July 2022

The requirements are:

1. Your reputation must be above 39 and below 70 (so 69.99 qualifies but 70.00 doesn't) and your account must be in good standing with the community.
2. Your total HIVE Power (before the 1st) must be more than 100 and less than 8000.
3. You must power up at least 10 Hive on January 1st (and must NOT be powering down).
4. You must write a post about your power up on January 1st with at least 1 of these 3 tags - #HivePUD (International), #HispanicHPUD (Hispanic), or #HPUD (General) as one of your first 5 tags (tagging only in the body of the post doesn't count).

To clarify - your Power Up Day post doesn't have to be just about your power up. You're welcome to just include a bit about it at the beginning/end of an unrelated post. For example, "Here are some pictures of my cute cats and oh yeah, here's a screencap of my power up today." Just be sure it's posted on the first, and has the correct tag(s). 😊
 

To be included in the winners list, you must meet all four requirements above. The order of the list (first place, second place, and so on) will be determined by the biggest PERCENTAGE of Hive powered up, not necessarily the most Hive powered up.

Also, while it hasn't been a rule (yet), this initiative has always been geared towards helping individual accounts, not groups or communities. A couple of times over the years, a community has ended up in the top 3, but were not awarded prizes. This is a heads up that next month, I'll be added it to the rules that only individual accounts will be able to qualify.

And to make it clear what's changed about the rules, I've bolded the two bits in rules #1 and #3. I think it's pretty self-explanatory why I've added those in, but please feel free to shout out if you any questions about it.

Oh, and a bit of a clarification as I haven't mentioned it for a minute - your Power Up Day post doesn't have to be just about your power up. You're welcome to just include a bit about it at the beginning/end of an unrelated post. For example, "Here are some pictures of my cute cats and oh yeah, here's a screencap of my power up today." Just be sure it's posted on the first, and has the correct tag(s). 😊

 

How to get HiveBuzz badges

For details, check their post Hive Power Up Day - November 1st 2022 as well as their Power Up Day Helper Badge post but essentially -

• Power up a minimum of 10 HIVE during the UTC time for the first of the month. Convert your local time to UTC or check the countdown timer on the Hive Buzz site (under the "Challenges" tab) to confirm it's during the first UTC time before you power up.

As of August 2021, there are a handful prizes for accounts who don't qualify for the main prize pool. Meaning: if your power up was under 10 Hive, your account was under 100 Hive Power or more than 8000, and/or your reputation was under 39 or over 70 before you powered up, you still have a chance of winning a prize!
