Not so long ago we visited the Taj Mahal in India. Full of joy I had the camera ready, memory card empty and the wide-angle lens with me.
Days before, I had already thought about how I wanted to photograph this beautiful palace and what it would look like in the pictures.
But things turned out very differently.
Camera in hand and the first pictures from a distance are taken. So far so good. The well-known picture, where you see the pallast with the water in the foreground, has become something. Unfortunately, the mirror image of the Taj Mahal is not absolutely visible in the middle of the water, but I noticed this with excitement at home.
But what struck me during the visit: Due to the insane size of the building and the use of the ultra wide angle lens of 10 mm, I already noticed when I saw through the viewfinder that it will be very difficult to photograph this pallast cleanly. Why? The lens has an enormous curvature at 10mm and the closer you get to a large object, the stronger it becomes.
There is a solution, but it is TIFT lenses. These lenses are designed to iron out curvatures and then represent them the way the human eye sees them. But I don't have that solution.
So it came as it had to come: I went around the Pallast and tried to make the best of it. At the guidelines in the viewfinder I did my best to hold the camera so that the towers look straight. The other buildings next to it suffer.
After hours we went again and slightly bent and confronted with reality I looked at the pictures on the camera. With a happy and crying eye.....
Es ist noch nicht so lange her, da waren wir zu Besuch beim Taj Mahal in Indien. Voller Freude hatte ich die Kamera bereit, Speicherkarte leer und das Weitwinkel Objektiv dabei.
Ich hatte mir schon Tage vorher Gedanken gemacht, wie ich diesen schönen Palast fotografieren möchte und wie er in meinen Vorstellungen auf den Bildern aussehen wird.
Doch es kam ganz anders.
Kamera in der Hand und die ersten Bilder von der Ferne sind gemacht. So weit so gut. Das bekannte Bild, wo man den Pallast mit dem Wasser im Vordergrund sieht, ist einigermaßen etwas geworden. Leider ist das Spiegelbild des Taj Mahal nicht absolut in der Mitte des Wassers zu sehen, aber das habe ich voller Aufregung erst Zuhause gemerkt.
Was aber mir während des Besuches aufgefallen war: Durch die wahnsinnige Größe des Gebäudes und notgedrungen die Verwendung des Ultra Weitwinkel Objektiv von 10 mm, habe ich beim sehen durch den Sucher schon gemerkt, dass es verdammt schwierig wird, diesen Pallast sauber fotografieren zu können. Warum? Die Linse hat bei 10mm eine enorme Krümmung und je näher man an ein großes Objekt ran kommt, desto stärker wird diese.
Es gibt eine Lösung, aber die lautet TIFT Objektive. Diese Objektive sind genau dafür gebaut worden, Krümmungen auszubügeln und diese dann so darzustellen, wie das Menschliche Auge es auch sieht. Aber diese Lösung habe ich nicht.
So kam es, wie es kommen musste: Ich ging um den Pallast und versuchte das Beste daraus zu machen. An den Richtlinien im Sucher habe ich dann so gut es ging die Kamera so zu halten, dass die Türme gerade wirken. Dabei leiden dann die anderen Gebäude neben an.
Nach Stunden gingen wir wieder und leicht geknickt und mit der Realität konfrontiert sah ich auf der Kamera die Bilder an. Mit einem fröhlichen und weinenden Auge.....
