Photographs usually serve as a gateway to the past; that's a portal to the memories of another day; they're an effective tool for preserving exciting moments, thereby immortalizing those in a way that helps us have something to look back on and relish those moments, whether it's celebrations like birthdays, weddings, anniversary, graduation, or painful reminders of a dead loved one. Through the years, the act of photography has evolved from blurry images to crystal-clear photos.
Although I don't really fancy the idea of taking a photo of myself, through the years I've had some mind-blowing moments and experiences that would have been long lost in the past had I not had photos that grant me a pathway to remembering and appreciating all that played out during those moments. I'm grateful for the memories photography has given me, and I can't help but look forward to having more of such moments documented.
I remember when I was much younger, our parents used to take photos of us either during our birthdays, a photo of us as a young babies, or celebrating some milestones and achievements during those days. Back then, most pictures weren't as beautiful as they are now; they had some form of imperfect image, and most were in black and white. But as we grow, the camera on devices we use to capture these photos becomes better, helping us to capture far better and more lovely photos.
Talking about photos as I snuff through my phone gallery, I was blown away by this photo of my brother and I celebrating with the trophy we won after an inter-house sports competition during our primary school days fast forward to years later, and here is another photo capture of me celebrating with my students who I lead to victory during an inter-house competition, I know as I look at this picture and smile when they grow up if they come across this photo it'll also bring back go old memories to them just as it does to me.
As I said photos play a huge role in we humans and one other way I personally use them is for capturing my product, that's the craft I made, whenever I make shoes for customers, I tend to take photos of them so I can use it as a recommendation for other customers unsure of a design, but on many occasions the picture where captured so I can put it online to advertise my craft and get potential customers to see and patronise me.
As I said earlier, I don't take many photos of myself, but then I took photos of items, objections, and nature, literally anything that captivated my attention and that's one I remember two years ago when I paid a visit to the university of Ilorin zoo and botanical gardens, I make sure to bring out my smartphone to document some of this mind-blowing sight my eyes behold.
It's the first time I'm seeing most of these animals I saw when I visited this zoo, so I felt I should document them by snapping pictures for future purposes and that's how I took a picture of this ostrich that's so curious about me and how I move around it, even though wanted to turn around and take a selfie with it, but the way it stretches it necks, I'm afraid it'll harm me, so I didn't.
Although I've seen tortoises before, not one that's as big as this, most of the tortoises I saw before visiting this zoo were very small, like those you can literally hold on your palms, but this one is way too big and I'm sure it'll be very old to be this big, I also saw other animals like lion, leopard and the likes and many more.
The architecture of this structure of a church is the last photo I took and will be talking about, I remember last year when I went to the cargo company to send the first set of my craft to be ordered by someone outside of Nigeria, on my way in the morning while going this building capture my attention but I was in a hurry so I plan on checking it out when I'm on my way home, which I did later that day and the sight is just breathtaking as I look at it once again.
