It was months of hustle, responsibilities, and stresses, my family finally planned for a short vacation. Though brief, our 2-day stay at Lapu-Lapu City gave us a moment to breathe, enjoy, and escape from the responsibilities.
We travelled from Bogo City to Lapu-Lapu City because we planned to have a family reunion instead. Since my other relatives are residing in Lapu-Lapu City, we decided to celebrate it there.
Day 1: Poolside Serenity at Arterra
We started our escape with a laid-back day at Arterra Pool. The view? It was good and the venue is perfect for family gatherings. The water was cool, the breeze was light, and the time seemed like it stopped for us. I enjoyed a lot because our family reunion only happens once a year.
We swam, lounged and took photos that served as our souvenir since it will took another year before we will gather like this. This is one of my best days; no rush, just family and enjoyable moments.
Day 2: Malls, Rain, and a Foggy Surprise
The next day, we still had energy. We went to Island Central Mactan for a quick stroll and to have our breakfast. After strolling at Island Central Mactan, we headed to Ayala for more strolls and shopping. The vibe shifted from calm to lively — we loved it! We did nothing but strolling and eating. We didn’t even notice that the night was already approaching.
We decided to wrap our day at TOPS lookout Cebu, hoping to see the stunning city lights of Cebu.
However, we feel disappointed because as we went there, it was foggy and raindrops were starting to fall. Instead of a view, we were met with a dreamy, misty blanket covering almost everything. No lively city lights, no sparkling skyline — just fog, wind, and a whole lot of cold. We still stayed there; talking, sharing laughters, and taking some photos.
At first we were disappointed but eventually, we just laughed at it and decided to have snacks and go home. Even though it was not the ending that we pictured in our minds, we’re still grateful because we got to share imperfect yet unforgettable moments together.
Our short escape to Lapu-Lapu and Cebu didn’t go perfectly—but that’s what made it perfect in its own way. We might not be able to enjoy the city lights but we got something else instead—a cozy, funny, unplanned moment that made the trip uniquely ours.
It reminded me that no matter how bad the journey is, as long as we are together, we will be able to find the beauty in it. Everything feels light when you are surrounded with your loved ones.
Until next adventure,
