Today, we learned that the FBI launched a new "Crypto Crimes Unit". As much as it sounds great that they will go after criminals and scammers, I am always a bit troubled when law enforcements decide to go after crypto.
The team will be headed by longtime prosecutor Eun Young Choi
The team will focus on:
- crypto exchanges,
- mixers, tumblers and
- other types of digital asset infrastructure providers that might allow for "the criminal misuse of cryptocurrencies," according to the release.
Well, can you see the KYC use case later on? I hope you all reported your taxes to Uncle Sam !
