Hi HODLers and Degens,
Rcently, I have hit the cards room to play some Poker Cash Games.
I always knew how to play poker but never got into it as there are literally no cards rooms in my country and I suck when I play online as I don't feel the game and end up sometimes doing stupid things.
I have played for the past 2 weeks 3-4 hours daily after work or on the weekend. I play 3$-5$ tables (usually there is a straddle at $10). After listening to podcasts, videos and playing I got better quite fast. I can say I now understand much more and I am much more confident in my game.
In the past 10 days, I managed to earn $13,000! You read it right: $13,000!
THIS IS NOT A PROMOTION OF GAMBLING as it brings so much personal issues.
I can see it at the tables, the same people over and over... Nevertheless, what I actually like is the game, money became secondary and I try to make abstraction of it.
Yesterday, with a pot of $1,200, I raised with $500 on the river thinking I had the best hand, this guy 3-bet me and raised by $1,500!!!
I tanked a bit and replayed the entire hand from the start, something did not add up on the turn when he checked after raising the flop. I thought of it over and over, he could only have a pocket pair which will make a full house to beat me.
I finally called, and won! I felt great because I logically came to the conclusion that he probably did not have the nuts (best hand).
What feels great is: Being right!
That is all, I am going to play this week and then go back home for the holidays. When I come back, I won't have free time as I did the past week and probably will not hit the card room.
My goal: $20,000 - $22,000 before I fly out to buy a car (most of it at least).
If you know any good ressource to listen to/read, I would love to hear it.
I would like to be better at calculationg EV+ / Odds, etc..
Sincerely,
